Georgia Tech moving forward with Phase III of Tech Square

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...i-of-tech.html

“Tech Square Phase III will be located on the northwest corner of West Peachtree and Fifth streets. Initial programming envisions a two-tower complex for the first phase, which will likely contain graduate and executive education for the Ernest Scheller Jr. College of Business, the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and other programming. The project will likely also include a large plaza with street-level retail and an underground parking deck. Phase III has an estimated cost of about $200 million and would provide more than 400,000 gross square feet. The earliest the building could open would be 2022.“

"Earliest the building could be open would be 2022" leads one to believe demolition of exisitng 2 large story buildings might well be imminent. But that doesn't appear in this quote

Anyone know planned demolition date of this exciting new Tech Square West Peachtree expansion?

Not sure, but they’re still exploring and hiring for the design of the site. Chances are we things may not change until early or mid next year.

With CODA at 740,000 sq ft, it appears this 'phase I' will be about half the size of Coda. Given Coda takes up an entire block, this might be about the height of Coda assuming Phase I takes up half the block.

I believe someone else posted about these a few months ago, but Cooper Carry's proposal for this site would be incredible.

Good to hear. Competition is always good. The fact that this is now in the public, makes me think this is probably not the winner.

UPDATE

https://www.news.gatech.edu/2019/08/...scheller-tower

Pending full project funding and approval by the Board of Regents and the governor, construction could begin as early as the summer of 2020 and could conclude by the end of 2022.

Two new towers on this block will be amazing and the ground floor retail will help activate between the blocks east and west.

Drove past it yesterday... looks like a lot of foundational work has been completed and it should start rising up soon.

Developer insists Midtown’s long-anticipated No. 2 Opus will break ground this fall

https://atlanta.curbed.com/2019/8/28...hts-opus-place

And this week, Olympia Heights’s director of developments Roni Avraham shared yet another new timeline for No. 2 Opus Place with Curbed Atlanta.

Site work is already underway, says Avraham, noting that trees on the property have been felled.

Construction is scheduled to begin in earnest in November, he adds.

If that's the case then No 2. Opus's website hasn't even been updated with the shortened version.
