MEC is a pretty big store. Still stocking some shelves but mostly complete. Was told they should be fully out of 124 by the end of next week. Went in for one part for my cycling shoes and it was the only product not moved yet.

LMAO

Truth be though, as much as we like organic food, we get much better selection at the City Market or Planet Organic.

EGS was just too limited - probably because when it first opened the plan was to be an adjunct to, not replacement for the galactically mismanaged (and therefore ultimately failed) Sobey's.

Credo and I believe Cora are two. The SE bay is still available.

There will be 2 storeys of glazing which will really open up, brighten up and modernize the corner.

Good! That mall needs more windows. Looks like a bunker in some places.

The Bay should be next.

Did anyone hear that MEC's new store's big selling point will be free parking? I think it's unconscionable for a so-called "green" store who built their newest location in an urban area of a city working to be less car dependent to base their main pitch around free parking. McKeen or someone from City Transportation should call MEC and give them a slap on the wrist.

Traversing the Brewery District on foot or by car is already a dangerous and noisy nightmare and that surface parking lot they built should be considered a sin against God. Maybe the BD could force all drivers to park in their shiny new parkade (which is currently barely used) and convert that surface lot into a pleasant plaza for residents, shoppers, and staff.

Does seem ironic, though not too fussed.

Agree though, why the BD wouldn't want to make better use of the Parkade is a good question. Certainly in bad weather, we use it.

Bet you MEC's business gets a significant boost with this new location.

Your always free to open up a business based on your morals and ethics. talk to what's his name over at earths general store for advice.

To be fair, despite being a store for outdoor stuff, I am sure they got tired of people complaining about parking in the old store.

Not sure if I mentioned it before, but I think many people are accustomed to paying for parkade parking but don't know that the Brewery District parkade is free. They need signs indicating as such over each parkade entrance.

Nah I'm pretty sure the lack of use of the underground has lots to do with convenience of the above ground. What's the fastest way to park, get out of my car, get back in my car, and dip? The convenience of the car has made us so lazy it effects all our lives.

Beyond me too how Molson is missing out on a killer opportunity to get their rotating sign back up on the old brewery site.

You know, Molson's / NHL / Official Beer / Rogers Place ....

100%. Had a conversation with one of the engineers on the project last week and we discussed this very issue. Even if full, a large proportion of people will park on the surface lot before going underground.

^ Which results in congestion problems above ground. If it gets bad enough maybe they will have to start charging for surface parking, or make more of the surface spots short-term only.
