There were large ads in the Vancouver Sun today for these two projects:

The Met - 35 storeys [Metrotown]
Concord finally updated http://www.themetburnaby.com/splash.html with a rendering.

Aviara - 32 storeys [Brentwood]

I can't tell from the rendering where exactly it'll be.

the mullions on Avira look promising. We see that a lot in Toronto, but not Vancouver. This is actually one of very few suburban buildings I like (considering it's market range)

This project is north of Staples and south of the Cemetery. It is in a triangular shaped lot.

They are also rerouting Douglas Road to connect with 1st Avenue in conjunction with this development, last I heard. That will really improve the awkward traffic jams that happen on those roads and Gilmore in rush hour.

Edit: correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears they've conveniently replaced the cemetery with houses in the rendering.

Looks like it. Would be lot cooler if they kept the cemetery in the rendering and took out all floors except the ones with a 4 in them...4-14-24-34-44-54-64-74-84-94...etc. Sort of a nice joke. Ok probably a bad idea...

Lol! And removed all the plants and had intentionally sharp metal edges to intensify the bad feng shui. Oh, and making the stairs run right down and out the door.

I can just see a overseas investor in China buying a north facing unit on the 16th floor. Comes to finally see what he bought and looks out the window for the first time....sees a big NA style ugly cemetery instead of houses and park space, "****"....then sees that what he thought was a canal is really a busy road, "****", then counts the floors and realizes he is on the 14th floor, "****"....

They are excavating the site right now @ 1st/Gilmour. It's going to be a busy intersection during the rush...

We need overseas investors to buy crappy units, so the locals can pick up the good ones. That's the only way a development can sell out.

How many offshore investors do you really think are buying up suburban condos in Vancouver (aside from River Green in Richmond)? Just because the majority of buyers might be Chinese does not make them foreign, there's a big difference.

Who knows. What matters is where the money comes from. If the money comes from overseas it doesnt make a difference if the person never stepped foot on Canadian soil or lived their whole life here.

The focus should be offshore cash, not offshore people, people mean nothing, money is the only thing that matters.

Hope I dont get this way off topic.

The point of my joke was that it is ridiculous how blatantly dishonest the marketing is, imo this is criminal and not much different then say the extreme example of what Mr.Madeoff was guilty of.

It's pretty amusing to see that Brentwood was still a clusterf*** even back then.
