The skateboard park in Bear Creek Park is kinda nifty. It's not my thing, but it looks like it would add some clean fun to anotherwise dreary place.

Now there's this new upcoming project:

CHUCK BAILEY YOUTH PARK

Quoted from Civic Surrey

Van der Zalm associates, the firm designing the new Youth Park addition to the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre, has unveiled a second iteration for the public’s response. Parks and Rec is seeking comments on the new design, which you can see much more of after the jump!

I would certainly hope so. Or else that's a rather LARGE oversight

I've never felt threaten walking in that area. University drive is a nice walk actually. Plus the druggies are a little more down city parkway.

Totally agree. University Drive is one of the nicest roads in the City. There's relatively wide, by Surrey standards, sidewalks with great lush trees up and down. It makes walking behind Central City bearable. I particularly enjoy the section between 105A Ave and 108 Ave.

The idea behind the Youth Park came from a proposal for an indoor skate park by some teens a couple years back. The rooftop covered area I believe is the skateboarding section, though I'm not sure why it's fenced in (fugly!)

I bike past this area every day. People are out playing soccer in the Tom Binnie field or there are the 3 baseball diamonds going with little league. It is pretty nice.
