Allied Reality will develop a lot on 4th and 22nd street. Supposed to be a 2-story brick-and-limestone building, which will have apartments and retail.

Interesting. The city better start thinking about how to increase parking in that area once this area is developed.

I believe I read it wrong in that they are actually building a parking deck there.

Say goodbye to Tutwiler Hall! This is GREAT news, as this building has been an eyesore on an otherwise gorgeous campus for as long as I can remember. And it's right next to the stadium at that.

Considering Tutwiler houses nearly 1,000, and this new building will house more than 1,500, and will be built next to Tutwiler while it's still standing, I would assume this is going to be a very large building.

I don't understand how they're going to build it in that area while Tutwiler is still there. It's going to be massive.

I guess we'll have to wait to see the renderings, but Tutwiler has a very large parking lot on which to build, and I'm sure most of the new building's mass will be vertical. Just not sure where the displaced parking will be in the meantime. We shall see.

I'm sure the parking deck encased by the surrounding sororities will be enough to take care of it. Maybe this will be a nice, tasteful, tower.

Been away for a while, but I just checked Allied Reality's website and here are some renderings of their proposals for downtown.

Elements Downtown (Will break ground in 2017)

The Lofts on 4th and 22nd (Will break ground in November)

Where exactly would this be built in downtown?

There is already vacant lot on the intersection of Lurleen Blvd S and 6th Street. Allied Reality already has a sign up of it saying "coming soon" and trying to sell tenants. I imagine it's the same over by Willhagans and Makers Market.

To clarify, Elements is going on Lurleen and 4th and 22nd is going on Temerson Square

Ohhhh ok, I didn't catch the text where it differentiated between two projects. My bad.

All good. I'm kind of interested to see how 4th and 22 works out because I remember that land being a bit hilly with a drop off, along with much needed parking in that area.

It's a sizeable lot, so I don't think there will be much issue with the structure and drop off. As you mentioned, parking will probably be an issue due to limited space, and said drop off.

Either way, those with units facing north with have some pretty great views.

I personally know that WOB will be better than Cravings.

Never been to the one in Bham, but I've always liked Cravings. Great selections and a very friendly staff.

I like the brick proposal a lot. It will age much better than the Elements proposal.

Anybody know anything about what they're about to do with the Quad? I noticed in a recent promotional video, that there are white outlines around the current sidewalks. Are they perhaps widening them? If so, are they pulling up the existing concrete first? I personally think it'd be beautiful if they used some kind of pavers/bricks on all Quad sidewalks.

I haven't heard or seen anything. What was the video?
