I come to this website once every few months. I might be coming more often though because it's an amazing tool to help me in my geography classes in school.

I'm really, really lazy when it comes to taking photos.
If you want, you can spam my inbox (kupadupa@hotmail.com) with messages telling me to get off my ass and maybe I just might go into Kelowna for a few photos.

Forget the photos then and just post some info on how things are progressing. Any new projects announced since you last updated this thread? I see Dylan posted an article up top, do you have more info on that development?

No more than what the article states. Just that WFN wants to "twin" the downtown area. I personally think those hi-rises are too large. Maybe some mid-rises would be much better suited for the roads there.

Also, go to city compilations and see Kelowna Developments.

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...hlight=kelowna

I posted a few things on how the city and Millroy (the dead Lawson Landing plan) are taking initiative on densifying a 4-block downtown area.

It was killed by a lot of people. The mayor and councilors, nimby's, fisheries departments, and overall the city just didn't want that sort of development on the waterfront. I agree with them. I think the development would of been much better suited a few blocks from the water. Maybe on Richter and Bernard or somewhere like that. But instead the guy who proposed developing Lawson's is buying up downtown land to develop into mixed use mid/high rises.

Madison Kelowna

http://www.madisonkelowna.com/main_site.html

The Conservatory is being built at a pretty slow pace, but it's quicker than before.
Westin is dead.
The Centuria is nearing completion.
The Lofts are completed.
There's a 6 story office building being built downtown on Water and Leon and it looks great. I'll try to find some pictures for it.

The development in my neighborhood (10,11,14,18 story condos) is going ahead with the 4 story units being built right now.

I got a lot of the info from Move Kelowna Forward. You can check it out in my sig. They'll have news on almost every single development in Kelowna.

Yeah, the CN railyard is notorious for killing large proposals. ie: Icon.

Here's a photo from mmmbry at Skyscrapercity.com:

This is the downtown redevelopment plan.
Personally... I think those towers look too repetitive, and they all don't need to be that large. More variety and mid-rises would be better.

Somebody needs to get this mmmbry guy over here!

Wrt those towers, perhaps it's just the massing and not an indication of their actual aesthetic finishings? They could work well with one another when detailed renderings emerge.

What's the Westin? Was it the big highrise hotel proposal? Is it totally dead or just changing form?

Yeah, Westin was the hotel near Discovery Pointe.

I would hope they're just models. I'd still love to see some mid-rise buildings built in a brick facade. Just a few would be enough to get me an erection haha.

Where is Kelowna's CBD located? I'm not too familiar with the city, that's why I ask. Is it nearthe waterfront? I see a lot of condo developements around there, but not really any office buildings.

That's part of the 'Cultural District"
Our CBD is technically downtown, which is why they're trying so hard to redevelop it into something appropriate, but our largest office buildings are located with the strip malls.

None by me recently, although this guy at flickr has some nice shots that capture the bigger buildings (although none really of downtown):
