Really like the outcome of this city, but I hope you keep the textures of the streets you had.

I'm enjoying this because I grew up a short drive north of Syracuse, just south of the eastern edge of Lake Ontario (I hope "Bourne" has a lot of snow removal equipment). So to try and imagine that area with a metro the size of Buffalo's is difficult but amusing. A set of soap operas used to have a fictional city called "Port Charles" further west along the lake shore.

Nice work. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Yes, it's mostly 3D, only the minor detail is 2D.

If you mean the cracked road textures, then I can tell you that they're not going anywhere. I won't be using them for the whole city, though. City of Bourne isn't rich but it still has money to keep the streets in the downtown area in a decent shape.

I've been wondering why there is no major city in real life. Looking at the map one might think that it could be a good place for a port city - it's pretty close to the start of Saint Lawrence River.

An update:

Well, there is and there isn't. Oswego is the port city, but its population is only about 19,000. Through the Seneca Canal and Oswego River, the port was connected to Syracuse, which then linked to other upstate cities via the Erie Canal. So all the canals sort of took away some of the importance of that part of the lake.

Anyways, nice update! I love the level of detail with the new textures!

This is looking epically good Vellu! Love the subtle reflection in the facades on those Midrises.

Thanks, Pinqyao and Toyota!

The ABA Building is now re-textured. Here's the original caption for the building:
"The building, originally constructed for the Northeastern Steel Company in 1964, now houses the offices of the Allied Bank America Corporation. The 25-story ABA Building, with the height of 113 m / 371 ft, became the second tallest building in Bourne when completed. Today it is the sixth tallest."

Thanks for the comments, and Pingyao: Congratulations, welcome to the club of fathers trying to find time for 3d modeling!

More buildings re-textured:

Next I will do another street scene.

Thanks Vellu, time is now most definitely in short supply! Looks like you only have a couple more buildings to re-texture. Is the eventual plan to start building more blocks?

Do you have photoshop or any editing software? You could make some sick montages with your renderings. They look amazing!

Yes, I only have a couple of buildings to re-texture in the first section of Bourne and then some ground texturing and other stuff - mainly the highway - before I can move on to re-texture the second section. There's a lot of buildings waiting for new textures!

Thanks Aleks! Well, what kind of montages you exactly have in mind?

Here's a street level scene for a change: Looking west on West Jefferson Street on a summer evening.

All the buildings of the first section have now been re-textured. I still have a lot of re-texturing to do, though, before I can move on to re-texturing the second section - mainly the highway, which is a lot of work.

Good stuff, well done for all the re-texturing, must have been time consuming as hell! One slight grumble would be the scale and number of those trees, I'd like to see more and larger just to soften it. Otherwise looks wonderful.
