NEW YORK | 160 East 22nd Street | 210 FT | 21 FLOORS

Smaller tower, but probably worth having its own thread. Renderings via Curbed.

Recent construction photos (3/31/13) from EastMillinocket @ WNY.

Funny how they cantilever over the top of the next building as if to say, "you should have sold me your property as well". Nice simple design.

I'd love to see most of the smaller 50's-70's crappers around the city be replaced by little nuggets like this. Anyone know what was here before?

The cantilever at 160 East 22nd Street is quite prominent now:

I understand they're trying to make the most out of that space, but cantelievering over a smaller building pretty much declares it a low density space, if it hasn't been landmarked.

They already took the air rights. The adjacent building can't be redeveloped regardless, which is why buildings cantilever (they can't built up because of height limits).

On another note, there are two similarly-sized buildings about to go up just east of here, along 23rd street. Both will be around 20-21 floors, and both will be condo.

This building with it's cantilever and all kind of reminds me of Five World Trade Center.

There were recently some pretty interesting model shots of this project on Curbed from their showroom.

I actually like it.

Does anyone know what will rise directly to the south of this site? There is an empty lot next to those two low rise buildings...
