They took about 2 1/2 weeks off over the christmas break. Since then they've been pouring concrete on the periphery of the tower floorplate, filling in the apron deck and other little things.

Apparently, they changed over steel suppliers/fabricators to save cost and are awaiting delivery, which has been rumoured to happen between now and "early spring".

There's quite a bit different that is visible. They have also been pumping a lot of concrete down below grade, where we can't see what progress is being made from the webcams. Probobly at least half of the work day between these two pictures they have been doing pumping below grade.

You can see that they have poured the floor slab for the arcaded areas on both sides of the tower, they have a section of the main floor slab ready for a pour on each side.

They also have laid a bunch of rigid inulation, and today they are placing rebar on top of that, getting ready for another concrete pour. It looks like once that concrete pour is complete, they will be able to drive supply trucks onto the deck itself, instead of only the streets beside.

I haven't noticed and concrete pouring but they have moved in stack of something wrapped in blue plastic (possiblely insulation of some kind?).

Yep, the stuff in the blue plastic is rigid foam insulation. They are using it for filling in some of the (non-structural?) areas that will be covered in concrete.

As for steel work, they erected a few columns that have been laying on the apron for a while, 2 on each end of the tower.

Thanks! I couldn't do much about the glare from the pendant lamps in the restaurant, and the room is rotating so there is a bit of blur.
It will be exciting to see The Bow rise to 58 floors and fill the view from the Tower.

Yea Jimby great shot, its cool to see such a literal footprint of the tower in place. You really begin to get an idea of what it will look like within the skyline.

What an exciting time for Calgary!

The first shipment of steel of the new year has arrived and not a solitary other post?! This is wrong... Rejoice! The Bow is about to climb!

P.S. Where the hell is Boris? I'm worried.

if anyone can grab a picture (even if its from a cell phone camera) that would be great for those who are not currently in Calgary. Would love to see the street level detail

I was talking to the dispatcher at IW's local 725 last friday and they're planing on sending 30 ironworkers to the bow around march 1st. So my guess thats when major erection will get underway Hopefully I get on it, if I do I'll try to sneak a few pictures from up on the steel.

He told me right now Supreme is waiting on grouting being done on some of the beams underground which is needed to support the construction load once erection starts.
