There looks to have been some minor progress around the steel, with some forms erected.. but little else. Can't wait for this to be built, and if it isn't (which I highly doubt) I will be quite upset.

It's great to see progress moving on this site!

I've been gone for a while on SSP. I was busy putting some renderings and animations together in my free time.

Speaking of which, check out my newest WTC 3D animation:

A recent rendering in 3DS Max and Kerkythea I made:

I've also noticed, that with tower 2, the cladding will look similar to the original twin towers' when viewed from a certain angle. The indentation in the middle will make it appear like two towers from that same angle. There's no doubt they put effort into putting in aspects from the original WTC as well as other messages in their architecture.
Even 1WTC looks like the twin towers merged together, and the top section of tower 4 is in a similar shape as the old Building 7.

It's just the focal length of the lens and the angle of viewing that's doing that. 2WTC is shorter than 1WTC in that model.

If you get close enough to the models, 30 Park would look taller as well.

Another perspective...

I like how the parapets stand out on the models. It really gives you a sense of how much height they take up.

Not only the parapets, but the mechanical space as well, which is enclosed.

That's as far as she's gonna go for now. Shame too, because she was rolling along real well until going on hold. As I stated in another thread, it's a shame also that this could not have at least been built out to podium height like 3WTC instead of this unfinished-looking stump.

There is absolutely no chance of it being canceled. It is on hold. The plan is to close in the existing portion and use it as an entrance to the underground mall and hub. It will be built, more or less as designed [hopefully more] once 3WTC has tenants, gets built, and this tower gets tenants. It could be resumed in one year, or ten. The point is that it will be built.

I don't know what makes you think it would get canceled. It's like any other skyscraper proposal currently in the works in New York, only this one is partially built.
