661 Talbot Street - 16s (Under Construction)

Drewlo is proposing a 16s apartment building on Talbot St.

Ya, looks rather uninspiring. I guess it will depend on the materials used.

Drewlo will be finishing up 2nd tower behind the Farm Boy on Wonderland Rd this Fall. Wonder if they plan to start this tower on Talbot in new year?

those behind the farm boy buildings are the epitome of banal ugliness.

Agree with you

Drewlo is not known for architecturally unique designs. Square boxes build as cheaply as possible.

One would hope this Talbot building is a couple of notches better given the location overlooking the river and not targeted as cheap student housing.

Yes, one would hope, but I wouldn't hold my breath thinking it will be any better than anything else they build. Take CityPlace as an example - one of the most prime spots in the city and they build a Slab Temple.

Drewlo has topped out the 2nd tower behind the Farm Boy. The house next to his empty lot for this 16s project is now up for sale. What's the odds they move ahead and start construction by this summer?

Looks like Drewlo is working on the foundation of a third tower behind the Farm Boy off Wonderland. Likely means that this proposed project on Talbot isn't going to happen in 2017.

Good kinda hope the talbot project gets a redesign and height bump. For that piece of land/on the water it can and should command a much higher end building.

Agree with you. 16s seems to be a waste given the great location. At minimum 20+ stories should be the starting point unless some silly zoning at city hall blocks that.

Unique looking building certain more attractive compared to previous versions, still think it needs to be taller given the valuable land location.

I agree with you. The change is significantly different from the original proposal.

Unfortunately they are still topping out at 16s. Should definitely be taller in that location. >20s at a minimum.

The reduction of parking spaces is disappointing and significant.

Where are the balconies in this design?

The new face on Talbot is supposed to also have office space it appears? Likely medical/dental I suspect?

I would also expect them to move on this quickly as they are about to top out the 3rd tower behind the Farm Boy on Wonderland.

And also to get ahead of York Dev and Rygar on the student rental market before it gets saturated.

Design is decent but I really like the fact that the footprint is large.

I would rather have mid-sized buildings than tall thin ones. They fill up more parking/empty lots making for a more solid built urban form.

Drewlo has topped out their 3rd tower behind the Farm Boy west of Wonderland. Would expect they want to move the tower crane and construction crews to this Talbot site quickly to get ahead of the market for other core tower proposals.

Those Drewlo towers behind Fart Boy are Irkutskian ugly. Hideous commie blocks, spreading like poisonous mushrooms.
