My favorites alternate between this and 53W53 (9 DeKalb being 3rd). Currently it's Tower Verre, because it's giving us love back early. But this one in it's own way is also a pinnacle of New York skyscraper design.

Not sure what you mean. The bulk of the work up to now has been on and in the landmark building itself. This isn't your typical new skyscraper construction going up. The main shaft, what most people are looking for, is really just now beginning to rise.

Almost, but not quite. Part of it is "within" the landmark structure.

Look at this view from above to get an idea...

They put in a new crane a few days ago, I think. I was in a business meeting across the street, and they were putting something new in.

This site is insane from above, BTW. Sorry, I didn't get any pics.

It appears to be at the same level as the setback on Steinway... about 4 or 5 floors above the roof of the grand entrance. Is that correct?

^ ha and thats all we will be able to do!

i cant imagine the complications of building on a site like this. once it rises above steinway the construction crew's lives should be easier.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when they were showing the architects and engineers the site plan.

'You want us to build this on WHAT sort of lot!!!???'

Only in NYC, London, and a few other select cities would it seems like a good idea to build such a monster on such a terrible lot (in terms of the size, shape).

The roof is 7 feet taller than the ESB spire (excluding the lightning rod).
