I would love to see a condo project in Wilmington. Just one on or near Market Street.

Exactly. I wish the Residence at Midtown Park project was a 20 floor modern skyscraper with glass elevators and to expand upon the skyline. That would be a dream.

Hotel boom brewing on Wilmington Riverfront

An update to the News Journal article from a few days ago reveals a few more details on Wilmington Riverfront developments:

1) B/P Group plans to break ground in July on the 100 room Homewood Suites by Hilton project.

2) B/P Group says they will begin working on the proposed 200 room Marriot hotel once the Homewood Suites project ends (I think this project might be on hold after the Big Fish Group announcement -- but we shall see, hopefully not).

3) "Louis Capano & Sons recently began work on a 68-unit, multifamily apartment building at 101 Avenue of the Arts, next to the Gates Building, which houses Barclay's and FireStone Roasting House. That four-story project is slated to be followed by an eight-story structure with 135 apartments."

^This is the first I've heard of an 8-story apt building to follow this 4-story project currently under construction.

Good things to hear. Sadly, Wilmington is having another awful year with homicides, already 16 homicides as of May 1, for a city of 72,000.

^^very nice! I wouldn't worry about the homicide rate too much. Wilmington is 100% on the right track. Reduced crime rates will come in time.

Yep. This is one renovation of which I am not a fan. Happy to see the hotel conversion, and it's great to see everything else happening in Wilmington. But I'd definitely call this particular building conversion a downgrade from an aesthetic standpoint.

SEI Investments seeks to nearly double its suburban Philadelphia campus

Quote:
SEI Investments Co. is in the early stages of devising plans to expand its sprawling Oaks, Pa., campus on an adjacent 90 acres that could, over time, nearly double the amount of space the company now occupies.

But for a window during the recession when most companies retrenched, SEI has been growing exponentially since moving to this Montgomery County community 20 years ago to start working out of five buildings. It last added to its campus in 2014 when it completed the construction of a 36,000-square-foot structure that was built to accommodate 200 employees. It now has 10 buildings totaling 550,000 square feet on another, separate 90 acres just off Route 422.

The company has 3,200 people working from its Oaks campus and that figure has already grown this year with the addition of more than 200 new hires. For at least the last five consecutive years, it has hired 200 people a year and doesn’t anticipate that pace to slow. To accommodate its continued expansion on a short term basis, the company has leased 65,000 square feet in Malvern but more space is going to be needed over time.

Parx Casino's $50M expansion to add entertainment venue & more

Quote:
Big things are coming to Bucks County's Parx Casino after it embarks on a $50 million expansion project that will add more non-gaming amenities, including the second outpost of America's first pizzeria.

Parx Casino in Bensalem will undergo a $50 million project that will add 45,000 square feet of space, two new restaurants, a poker room and a multipurpose live entertainment venue, officials announced Wednesday.

Slated to open the winter 2017-18 season, the $50 million project is the second phase of a multi-phase project the casino announced back in 2015. The first phase added new slot machines, live table games, and a luxury lounge, among others.

Here are the upcoming additions (see photo gallery to see renderings and see below for more information):

- Xcite Center, a multipurpose live entertainment venue designed to seat more than 1,500 guests. It will include two 16-feet-by-9-feet video screens, a professional-grade sound system and advanced engineered acoustics.

-Lombardi's, founded in 1905 in Manhattan and touted as the United States' first pizzeria. This will be the company's second location. The European-style restaurant will seat up to 130 people, and there will be a custom-built marble bar.

-Liberty Bell Gastropub, a farm-to-fork concept that will seat up to 230 guests. There will be a 30-seat bar and a media wall with 14 high-definition TVs behind the bar. Liberty Bell Gastropub will have a custom rotisserie bar with two rotisseries that will slow-roast meats around a bar area.

-Parx Poker Room will move inside the main casino building during the $50 million expansion. The new room will have 22 high-definition TVs and a VIP poker area.

I'm just wondering, why don't we just call this thread "Wilmington Development" or something like that because after all, it is primarily based off of Wilmington.
