just got back from the waterfront-conference-meeting-design-proposal thing. and wow, it gets better and better every time.

although i wish they kept more greenery on that ramp connecting the market to the water. it's ok though because i left a hefty note with my thoughts!

oh an i hope the waterfront theater is original, classy and can be used throughout the year instead of becoming a dead zone over time.

In other news: 1915 Second Ave (24 floors) is said to supposedly start in early 2012.

Fast-growing Amazon.com has leased most of another downtown Seattle office tower, the 28-story West 8th building in the Denny Triangle, city permit records indicate.

Is the action still stalled at North Lot/Stadium Place?

I was curious about the North Lot too - I'd love to see that one get off the ground!

I can't imagine any sort of apartment 'glut' would last too long. I see it happening like the last time thousands of new units came on the market about 3 years ago.... they'll compete, offer incentives, people will take advantage and fill the buildings. Then residents will get hit with a sizable rental rate gain on their first year renewal of the lease (boo). Construction is taking place in many of the most desirable locations in the city and it's tough to find units, especially newer constuction units, in these areas. If all of these were going up on the outskirts of the east side or something like that, I could see it taking longer to fill.

I went by there the day after Thanksgiving and noticed the fenced off area was shrunk and the mobile crane has been removed. The site trailers are still there.

Hmm, just checked their web site. The plan in this picture looks different from one I saw a few months ago.

This new thing looks like they're shifting the floors or facade. It looks chunkier too. I wish they didn't try to have a full-site podium. There should be a plaza breaking up the space.

The podium has room for a third highrise portion. The block to the left has a couple more towers. And it apparently just re-started. Last night Seattle Times: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...orthlot07.html
