According to the folks over at OKCTalk, the "mystery tower" is officially a done deal and will be announced here pretty soon.

New info released about the Mystery Tower. It will be around 40 stories and will be the 2nd tallest building in Oklahoma, the height will be between 650-700ft.

Unless I'm day dreaming, I believe it was also said that it will have retail on the first couple of floors; maybe just the first floor. I can't recall exactly.

The official-but-unannounced skyscraper will be in the left side of this image where the Stage Center (concrete building with the colorful walkways surrounded by trees) stands. Across the street where the construction site is is where the new elementary school will be.

OKC looks like it's right on the verge of a big boom. Now we just need some new residential towers to go up.

Our local celebrity Steve Lackmeyer (reporter that covers downtown) said to expect a number of midrise residential towers (20 stories and under by his definition) to go up in and around downtown OKC over the next couple of years.

They did a good job with the streetscape in that pic. Nice wide crosswalks, bike lanes, plantings, and subtle lighting.

Is this new tower related to the energy industry as Devon obviously is? Drill and frack away! Buffalo is getting a large midrise complex connected to the hockey arena, compliments of a fracking billionaire. Point being, the road to energy independence here in America is a GOOD thing.

No one is 100% sure who it is, but it's thought to be OG+E (Oklahoma Gas & Electric).

Another company thought to be in the running is Continental Resources, an oil & natural gas company that relocated to Oklahoma City from Enid, Okla. last year.

I would not be surprised if OKC started taking off like Austin.

As someone that has observed development in Austin and Oklahoma City, with the way everything is going, I would not be surprised either. It does appear that OKC is in the early stages of a boom.
