I would say that you have to include the plaza around the Bean in Millennium Park in this discussion because it very much functions as a public meeting space. Millennium Park is one of the greatest public spaces in the world and I certainly don't think it can be removed from a conversation on plazas simply because it comes with the "park" suffix. With the exception of the Lurie Gardens, none of Millennium Park is very park like, it's almost entirely public meeting spaces like the Crown Fountain, The Bean, and Pritzker Pavilion. I would also say that Buckingham Fountain is another great plaza in Chicago, but it can't serve the same role as say a Trafalgar Square because it is so removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I agree with you in regards to Millennium Park. I work across from Daley and around the block from Chase and they are nice plaza's but we don't have really anything extraordinary. I visited a lot of places this year particularly San Francisco's and New York's Union Square, made me think why don't we have anything similar.

The B37 tower might be my single favorite project in the city right now. Not for any aesthetic reason, but solely for the influx of life 690 occupied apartments will bring to the area.

B37 + 73E Lake + 200N Mich = 1424 apartments cozied up to each other in a two block area of the NE Loop.

Yep, plus those renovated apartments (for students I think though?) not too far south of there and all the new hotels coming online in the general area soon. It'll be interesting to see if the business landscape changes in a few areas.

This thing has shot up like a weed. It's incredible. If desired, and no spells of atypically bad weather this spring, this could easily be topped-out by early-mid summer....

From the 135 yesterday, I noticed something odd. Due to the apartment tower being set in ever so slightly from both the State and Dearborn streetwalls, it seems that there is limited opportunity to rent corner units with clear views down to the River and beyond. Maybe from (2) blocks in, the view would only be a sliver but the setbacks hit me as curious.
