The Rotterdam based practice Neutelings Riedijk Architecten recently unveiled the new Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerp, located in the centre of the old harbour district, the most important and biggest city renovation project in the centre of Antwerp.

lego-style mondrian-inspired skyscraper made out of containers, but first, a mondrian painting

I think this has been posted before but WOW this building is cool

France’s longstanding relationship with Islamic culture is embodied in Jean Nouvel’s stunning Institut du Monde Arabe. The visionary design surprised the 19 donor nations when they first saw the concept in the 1980’s. Far from a traditional austere building, the institute features radical high-tech walls emblazoned with mechanical apertures that respond to sunlight by narrowing to reduce solar exposure or dilating to allow daylight to suffuse the interior.

And yeah Amor the Arab Institute is a sorely under-appreciated building. I like how the metal apertures bring to mind Moorish designs and rosettes.

I crammed a lot of architectural sight-seeing into my two-day Paris visit, but I didn't get to see Monde Arabe, which is a real shame. That building is shamelessly cool.

Tel Aviv’s real estate is rapidly recovering from the economic crisis and the Skinless tower designed by architect Shoval Omer proposes a new type of residential high-rise where highly customizable living units attach to a steel exoskeleton. This innovative geometry derives from the analysis of the anatomy of shell patterns in nature.

The building is conceived as an aggregation of small volumes with a large number of open spaces that allow light to filter to the city. It is also predominately white to blend with the existing urban fabric. The development also includes commercial areas at the lower levels and recreational parks intertwined with the residences. Some of the “pods” are designed as vertical farms and water collectors with photovoltaic cells.

British Hong Kong based designer Michael Young has been commissioned to develop building project strategies for Wanchai Cultural District. The first concept PSi Tower has been developed as an office complex with luxury apartments for business users and executives overlooking Kowloon district. Conceptually the project, based visually on the essence of ancient Chinese building techniques, has been carried forward into the 21st Century with its multi facetted surfaces that change according to weather and light conditions.

I'm not sure about the perspective on those renders but that building looks absolutely MASSIVE if it's anywhere as tall as the IFC

I'm in other side that it should contribute a lot to it. It would be tomorrow built. I loved the unique architecture as were some time Bank Of China and other monolitos there. And I think in our Cosmos the thoughts are the same ... No problem Amor, I knew you would like the site.

dont get me wrong i do like the building though i just think it should be in another area of HK,its just so massive and being right next to 2 ifc it just looks like it would throw the balance of the skyline off,but thats just my opinion.

I can't picture how that building would actually look in real life. The renderings are completely unrealistic.

I didn't get you wrong. You have an oppinion and I have mine. Different but both valid ok. Probably you saw that, because how fat the building is. Actually if they make it the same but thinner, then probably you would see differently. I just think would have great problematic in water like would be this in Japan of 1Km high, never built, with a marina below, but i personally like those buildings type. HK is anyway too dense side-by-side. If another ones still come ahead, not really a skyline dense break imo. For me renderings are nice.
