Concord's, Pinnacle's, and Polygon's development in Capstan village all have constuction going on like crazy. The rate at which they build these is astounding. I guess this is because they cannot build underground parking so they do not have to dig as deep. That and the fact that they are all roughly around ~50m tall.

I've seen these towers lately. The first phase of Sorrento (the light blue development) appears to be finished and they are starting on the 2nd stage.

(visible here)

The first stage of Concord Gardens is nearly comeplete, and the second stage is under construction. The development by Polygon is far into construction.
It seems that I forgot to bring my camera to take pictures, sorry!

the Pinnacle development is nearly done, i took some photos and they are in this thread here. it seems that since that map of the area was made, the name has changed. but it is the same location, and done by Pinnacle.

I can actually confirm that the first phase is completed because I bought some furniture from a resident already living in it.

I need to post a photo at some point, but Richmonds skyline (what skyline?) is the most boring out there with every. single. tower. being the same height. Richmond is officially de facto table top skyline of our Metro.

Of course it is nice to see that at least these former industrial areas are being re-built and the building quality is not bad, but boy, it is boring.

Concord appears to have left the corner at Sexsmith and Patterson undeveloped, and instead they built tall walls around it. It would be interesting to know what they are planning to do there.

My guess would be a "District Energy Utility," similar to the one built on Odlin Rd. for new developments there.

My question is, when is the Capstan station going to be added to the Canada Line network. I remember there was a condition way back that to develop there they had to relay funds towards that station... might have dropped off now?

Landlocked Lot: In addition to the above, at the northwest corner of the subject site is 3200 Sexsmith Road, a small, vacant lot measuring approximately 1,070m² (0.26ac) that the developer has been unable to aquire.

Thanks for the updates. Always great to see proper urban podiums instead of dinky townhomes.

Thanks for the aerial photo. Funny, all this time I've thought that the Pinnacle property/project was Concord, and the Concord was Pinnacle!

Regarding the funding for the future Capstan Way station, my recollection is that the City of Richmond is levying an approximately $8,000 charge per unit for the first 3,200 units of development in the Capstan Way station area (half of the total entitled 6,400) to yield the ~$25,000,000 or so that will be required to build the station. I suspect that the true cost of the station will be greater, but with the municipality contributing so much I would expect that Translink - flush with some Federal dollars - and the Province will find the remaining few millions to make it happen.

Huge Batch of Photos from today!

I came by the development today, took a ton of photos. I'm also posting my photos of Pinnacle Sorrento in its thread and Polygon Avanti in the Suburban updates thread, if you are interested.

From Bridgeport & Great Canadian Way (I think)

Phase 1

Phase 2 on Patterson Road

That strange corner lot, which I am assuming will be used for a geothermal plant.

I wish that they did something more interesting that that flat wall.

Phase 2...

The streetfront on Sexsmith Rd.

Looks pretty nice, don't you think?

A new piece of Hazelbridge Way. Why they needed a full arsenal of traffic lights beats me.

A marble-encased entrance in Phase 1

Some smaller building, which I think is on Garden City Rd.

All photos were taken by myself.

They remind me of Olympic village a bit. They seem nice and everything but I wish they all weren't painted concrete. More use of brick/stone would be nice

Concord's development looks very impressive and they have first-rate amenities, that is for sure.

Foodie World was smart to open up their market in the old abandoned market with all of these units in Capstan Village coming on line.
