The future of Calgary's East Village with all buildings officially proposed/uc/complete currently. By the end of this year, most of these buildings will be UC or complete

My 3D Toronto model is starting to get some good definition now, but still a lot more work to do...

Here is a preview of the future Entertainment District, densely packed full of skyscrapers:

A neat view looking up from sidewalk at the corner of King and Widmer, looking through 35 Mercer at the CN Tower:

The Entertainment District is gonna have a New York City/Manhattan vibe when all is said in done. Perhaps in 10 years or so.

The scary part : even after the current crop of skyscrapers proposed and under construction in the entertainment district are complete it looks like there is still plenty of room for a hell of a lot more towers.

Even more scary... that's just one part of downtown. The Yonge/Bay corridor is filling up with tall towers too, as is Yorkville and Southcore as well.

There's an exciting announcement coming sometime this year! Mirvish-Gehry was approved some time ago and would sell like the proverbial hotcakes. I'm sure we've been over this before (my memory isn't what it used to be), but what accounts for the dilatoriness again? It's too complicated/expensive a design to pull off?

The project is large.. it's gonna take time. I predict 20 to 30 years.. maybe 50 years before groundbreaking..

1. Inexperienced developer that seems to either want to do himself or can't find takers. Greatest real estate success was upzoning and flipping the King Blue site. Owns the revenue generating site for decades. No desparate need to push forward.
2. Architect known to blow budgets
3. A saturated ED condo market. I assume hotcakes is wishful thinking.
4. No movement 'cept for announcements of future announcement more than a year after rezoning was completed. Site Plan submission to the city took over a year too.

Great, no, Fantastic work on that TO model Koops.
It really helps me to locate where all the proposals are located.
Toronto is going to be bonkers (in a good way).

^^^^ Thanks!

Southcore is now finished, and Cityplace, as is the CBD, along with the entertainment district. Still lots more to do, but I'd say I'm about 1/3 finished now...
