I just want to point out that while the Blues Jays were best known for their huge number of home runs, they also had the highest on base percentage in the majors by far, well ahead of second-place Detroit .340 to .328. They also had the highest slugging percentage in the majors by an even greater margin, ahead of second-place Houston .457 to .437.
The Blue Jays simply had the best offence in the majors in 2015, and no other team was even close. They also had an above-average pitching staff, with a season ERA of 3.80, good for 5th spot in the AL (league ERA of 4.01).
What killed the Blue Jays in the ALCS was sheer bad luck. It did not help that they were pressing too hard, trying to hit a home run every at-bat, instead of simply trying to get on base and letting the runs come. The abysmal ball-strike calling by the umpires did not help either.
