It's already starting to feel different on that block. Soon it will be narrow canyons weaving their ways through walls of concrete, steel and glass.

Sales of these condos started last week with a big sales party this next week. I hear there is lots of buyer interest- I'm looking forward to see how actual sales go.

Anyone else going to the showroom opening tonight? I'll post some pics tonight/tomorrow.

Well there wasn't anything that exciting to take photos of at the sales center party. The place was packed and I was surprised how many "SOLD" stickers there were already, including one of the 28th floor penthouses. The smallest units start around $400k and go up to $3.8 million for the 2nd penthouse on the 28th floor.

With strong sales I wonder if this will jumpstart the condo market.

Most notably the Greg Goodman property (Broadway Tower) next to the Ladd Tower.

This is the official website for the Cosmopolitan, but there's nothing to see on it. This is an unofficial website set up by a realtor, and it has be seen (and heard) to be believed. It does have floorplans [PDF] of the units. Lastly, the Hoyt Living blog has regular construction updates. Most recent photos, showing a huge concrete pour:

I have to say this, I love my east side hood, but more and more I'm feeling like the Pearl or one of the buildings on east Burnside going up would be so damn cool to live in.

Was near here yesterday and nice to see some steel and concrete poking out over the wood panels along Northrup

The blog Luxury Condos of Portland is worth reading, albeit mostly as comedy. However the most recent post has some interest data about prices being asked for at the Cosmopolitan: as much as $900 per square foot.

Is it just me, or does it sound like whoever wrote this has an axe to grind? Definitely right to point out the price per square foot as being very high, but the rest of this rant seems really personal.

OMG the design of that blog... I haven't seen so many bevels since about 1997.

Shot from yesterday looking north. I wonder if it might be topped out by the time the Bridge Pedal happens later this year?
