Canadian brands are proliferating beyond Canada like never before. Aldo, Second Cup, TD Bank, Scotiabank, Freshii, Hudson's Bay, etc. Even Circle K is technically a Canadian brand now. Alimentation Couche-Tard's global network changed to that one brand outside of Quebec. It might also surprise people to learn that a small burger chain like Big Smoke Burger is in 6 countries besides Canada. The oddest one for me would be to visit a Hudson's Bay in the Netherlands.

I prefer Justin's way of fully embracing other cultures compared to the last half assed guy we had. And I'll take his not so great trip to India if it secured us billions in trade which it did.

I didn't know Second Cup was a "Canadian brand".

Out of curiosity, except for these rare chains that are obviously well known enough for that information (that they're from here) to be out, how are people even supposed to know that?

I'm still at 0/0 a.k.a. haven't given a red cent to Tim's in months.

It's a great question. For Second Cup, their web site tells us this as does wikipedia, but if you really want to support a Canadian business then what kinds of things are we looking for? Company, parent company? In that case s
Second Cup is more Canadian than Tim Hortons, despite the history of Canadiana that Tim Hortons has.

I always look at that with local businesses to see if they are just a franchise of something else.

I'm a Trudeau fan. But his recent India trip felt like him playing Mr. Dressup. It would be like Donald Trump visiting Canada and wearing the common winter clothing of the Inuit. So yeah, it's a bit of a political statement.

Anyways, anything more about that, I'll be in the Justin Trudeau's Canada thread.

I assumed everyone knew. Do people not read daily news feeds any more? Back in the 90s, Second Cup was touted as the Canadian answer to Starbucks. It never materialized but the company does seem to be expanding internationally these days.

I wouldn't expect people to know that M0851 are Aritzia are Canadian but bigger chains like Aldo I would.

I think I knew Second Cup was Canadian, but I had no idea Aldo was. Also didn't know Lululemon was big outside of Canada until fairly recently.

The tagline under my name is in the same vein but I can't say I'm a fan of him. He's preferable but not preferred. Or does preferred but not preferable make more sense?

So far I've saved about $34 by drinking the free coffee at work instead of Tim Horton's. Not only does it cost me nothing, but I literally get paid to drink it. I've used the savings to buy music CDs via the web.

If I drink it after 5pm I get paid overtime to drink it.

A few days ago I went to Tim Hortons for the first time this year and got some Timbits.
They've gotten worse. -4/10 would not feed to birds.
