If they're going to hang a big Salesforce logo on this sexy thing I'm gonna puke.

San Francisco is so supremely corrupt to let this naming thing pass.

That's a ridiculous statement. Have you read the reasons for it? It's not that any of us here like the name, but some of us reluctantly support it for obvious reasons.

Since the bracket is centered over First Street, one of the main arteries onto the Bay Bridge, I'm betting it's for digital traffic signage.

The assumption with the naming rights is that somehow the transit terminal will be better managed, safer, cleaner... all assumptions I have my doubts about

Its the exact bogus reason that they would have to give to make it seem to be the right thing to do when its actually just about bribery and cowardice.

I thought we were talking about the ones on the Beale Street side.

Theres 2 sets of those horizontal bars on Beale Street (one on each corner) and also 1 set placed in the center of the facade on First Street.

I believe it's just part of the design. You can see the same bars in the rendering below:

I think a lot of the commercial tenants depicted are aspirational--they are what they hope to lease the space to but, frankly, I wouldn't bet on success. The real success of retail in this building seems to me to depend on getting the rail into the lower level and that could be a decade or more away (I forget the timetable but that too has to be considered aspirational), especially if they fail to control its attractiveness as a homeless hangout.

We should be glad that it is! I agree with Pedestrian, and it is obvious from looking at numerous areas in the City, that the available retail space may be difficult to fill. I hope they lease to as many offices as possible.

Pedestrian, I think you dwell on the train activity too much for now since it's so far off. We have what we have, so let's support and appreciate it. That's what I intend to do.

good eye. i never noticed that. it seems as though it serves more of a functional purpose than design. looks like we'll have to wait until March to see its intended purpose.

I'll try to support it but I'm not working downtown and don't commute so my only reason to go there is to savor the area with its new buildings and all.

I'm just tremendously disappointed in our elected officials for building something like this without a real plan to carry through making it the place it should be which requires at least 2 things that were promised: The lower level trains and direct access (a tunnel) to BART.

While I am very regretful at the death of Mayor Lee, whom I consider as strong an advocate of development as we are likely to have in NIMBYville, I do hope his idea to reroute the trains is gone with him ecause it would mean even more dither and delay:

I noticed that SFGate article from last week repeatedly referred to the new Transbay [Terminal] as the Transbay Transit Center and not STC. Is this just habitual hangover, an act of defiance or is it a sign that maybe, just maybe the Salesforce branding may be limited say to the rooftop park?

Thoughts? Insight?

I think the plan to reroute the train is actually a good idea

It is the best option for turning the blocks used by train tracks / Caltrain station into the next high density neighborhood.
