MRP wants more retail and floating docks at Capitol Riverfront project

"MRP Realty, developer of Dock 79 near Nationals Park, has made a bunch of amendments to the next phase of its Capitol Riverfront development plan as it heads toward a Jan. 23 hearing with D.C.’s Zoning Commission.
The developer and its partner, Florida Rock Properties Inc., want to build a marina on the Anacostia with one fixed pier and three floating piers as part of the 71 Potomac project, according to filings with the city Tuesday. MRP is seeking flexibility on marina phasing so it can accurately assess the market demand for boat slips.
They plan more than 25,000 square feet of open space with public and private areas, including a dog park. It envisions an esplanade area with wood amphitheater seating, beach volleyball areas, bike and pedestrian paths and pop-up retail and restaurants housed in shipping containers. The new open space coupled with existing open space for the first phase would total 74,000 square feet..."
