I have never seen a four crane building under construction in Toronto. - Maybe for Scotia Plaza...but I watched that one go up from my bedroom window as a kid. And cant remember how many cranes there were cause of the distance from my home. And I was to young to go and check it out in person.
Some are expecting that at least 1 project (Centennial) in Calgary may have 4 (or possibly 5) due to the sheer size of the site. And the Bow will probably have 3 or 4. We already have a 3 crane setup for the new tower at the Foothills hospital (which is finally starting to build floors, they constructed the elevator shafts up 9 or so floors before they started on the actual floor plates)

I'd expect 3 or 4 cranes for Penny Lane too. That's not a small site either.

RBC is a small site however its hemmed in by other buildings so it makes it easier to use more luffing jib cranes (angled boom upwards) than fewer of the more common cranes attached with long horizontal booms. Tower cranes aren't exactly in short supply here as many are brought up from the US even to build a one level concrete parkade under wood or metal framed stacked townhouses

Ryerson Business Building had 4 or 5 cranes..but it was not a skyscraper.
I think only 5-6 very massive floors.

It was completed last year.

I really like how it looks now, especially how it changes with the light. I suppose it would have looked better if it was titanium or something, but there is too much grey/beige in the skyline as it is

No thats a contestant from last year's american idol competition. Which is my favorite tv show..after HEROS

Her name is Breena Gethers. she was eliminated before the final twelve last year.

She is wearing a Vote for the Worst.com t-shirt.

And unfortunately Sanjaya is still in this year's competition.

Both the copper thing and the little Circa2000-2001-Hat seem out of place, as if they are afterthoughts.

After thought my ass, you have to see the other side of the building to see how well the copper blends with the rest of the building. The sail originally was not supposed to be opaque with light coming through it and I admit they royally fucked that up

These pics are courtesy of Taller, Better at SSC!

BAY ADELAIDE CENTRE

BAY ADELAIDE CENTRE

Look at the size of that hole. This is going to be one very large office Tower... - Excavation on this one may take a few more months looking at how much land is involved. We wont be seeing cranes here for a while.
