The first renderings should be released soon, the only thing that's known so far is the height of 210m, which would make it the third tallest in Frankfurt and Germany, 2m higher than Westendstr.1.

I have the feeling the more towers are being put on hold in london, the more towers are getting started in frankfurt. frankfurt will get hit by the worldwide turmoil in the financial sector - no doubt about it. but right now, it seems as if the boom isn't stopping but getting stronger - and all these projects already have anchor tenants.

the bahn tower is pretty certain now - the opposition fell quickly. if we're lucky, we'll see a 230m DG Bank tower too - that would be 2 x 200m+ towers nobody was expecting. plus all the others, that started or are about to start.

the only tower, that I'm worried a bit, is kaiserkarree. it is being redesigned completely right now - the height will be increased from 135m to 150m. that would be the only speculative project right now, unless tishman speyer is in secret talks with somebody. construction is planned to start beginng of 2009. I wonder, if this will really go ahead speculatively, in times like these.

The situation in Frankfurt is completely different than in London, given the different group of tenants for whom the towers were planned.

90%+ of the projects in London were aimed at companies from the financial sectors and anybody who has been following the news recently knows about the current situation there.

The new Bahn Tower in Frankfurt has the German Rail as its main tenant, a company that even profits from a financial crisis (people switching from the car and plane to the rail). Also keep in mind that construction companies lower their prices during a recession in order to attract any customers at all during those times. This is also an important point to keep in mind when you think about the construction of the new tower of the ECB, which would get their new HQ for a cheaper price. Additionally quite a few of the new towers in Frankfurt are hotels such as the Hyatt @ UEC or the Palaisquartier Hotel.

Imagine Deutsche Bank would revive the dead project "MAX" as a new Postbank headquarter. Muahaha, Frankfurt booms and booms and booms.

Airrail Center is growing rapidly. Seen from the autobahn it's currently looking like a giant ocean liner or spaceship. Yet another picture, seen on www.hochhausforum.de :

Back to Frankfurt Airport. Does somebody know if the so called Quartier Alpha, which is located within the The Gateway Gardens Area is under construction already?
