I think the cities are about equal in this area. Sydney does classical music better, though Melbourne has more art galleries. However, anyone involved in creative industries is probably flying between Sydney and Melbourne all the time.

Melbourne gets a little bit colder. The average high in summer is the same in both cities at 25.9C. But the average low in winter for Melbourne is 6C, and the average low in Sydney is 8C. Neither city gets cold enough for snow.

There's a big rivalry between the cities. But considering there are 7 million people movements between the cities a year when each city has a population of about 4 and a half million, one could say that the cities are twins and share the role of being the countries business and culture centre.
