It's barely taller so not until the very end. It's probably right around where the ESB 86th floor observatory is at the moment.

To the pinnacle (lightning rod) this will be shorter but to the top of what counts as a spire, 1,250 ft, yes. But due to elevation, the ESB will appear dominant.

It'll be the cities 6th tallest. 1 WTC > CPT > Stienway > Vanderbilt > 432 Park > 30 Hudson.

But once we factor in the future towers like 80 South, its ranking will diminish. Assuming more rise past 1300 ft in the future.

Yes for Chrysler, and yes/no for Bank Of America. Past the roof height yes, past the spire height of BOA no.

The observation decks are almost identical in height. Which one is higher?
Having both will be great. Getting another perspective of the NYC skyline is never a bad thing!

^^^^

The deck will be at 1,100 ft (30 Hudson). I believe the ESB is 1050 ft (86th floor).

There is a small observation post on the 102nd and 103rd floor of the ESB that not very well known as most go to the 86th floor. All the way where the spire pretty much ends. That one is taller.

The one on Vanderbilt will be shorter than the ESB.

30 Hudson's platform is at 1054', plus space above that with restaurant and event space. 1 Vanderbilt's was originally reported to be 1020', but YIMBY recently reported it might be closer to 1100'.

that deck is so oddball on the building, but the views will certainly be great.

That's an older render, but the observation deck at 30 Hudson will be the highest outdoor deck in the city....

New deck to top view from Empire State Building

Quote:
The Hudson Yards development will have the tallest outdoor observation deck in the Big Apple, beating out the view from the Empire State Building by 50 feet, project developers revealed Thursday.

The deck will be 1,100 feet in the air and stretch more than 5,000 square feet, boasting spectacular 360-degree views of Manhattan and beyond, said Joanna Rose, a spokeswoman for the Related Companies, which is developing a 27-acre development complex on Manhattan’s Far West Side.

Related expects several million visitors a year to its observation deck, which will be a part of the 92-story skyscraper 30 Hudson Yards, the fourth-tallest building in the city when completed in 2019.

The Empire State Building’s 86th-floor Observation Deck is 1,050 feet high.

At that height though, it won't make much of a difference. The difference will be in the view and the decks themselves.

New details revealed about Hudson Yards observation deck and public spaces

Quote:
On Tuesday, Related announced that London restaurant and catering company Rhubarb will run a 10,000-square-foot public space in the nearly 1,300-foot supertall 30 Hudson Yards. Rhubarb will operate a bar, restaurant, and event space on the 92nd floor, one floor above the tower’s observation deck, which at 1,100 feet will be the highest outdoor deck in the city. According to Eater and the Post, the company will also open a 5,800-square-foot restaurant on the fifth floor and an indoor-outdoor bar at the observatory.

On the very top floor, there will be a dining room with half of the seats facing Midtown, and other half facing New Jersey. In addition, they will operate an indoor-outdoor bar on the observation deck. All the spaces will open in 2019.

So it looks like from the new render that the smaller observation deck near the apex of the roof at about 1265' or so is gone?

Please tell me they still have the see-through floor. That is one of the better features of this observation deck and also differentiating it from the others in the city.

Not sure what you're talking about.

That's still in the plan. That's the "thrill" element.

It will be visible from the street as well...
