I have an idea. When the deck opens on 30 Hudson, find a family member or friend who has acrophobia, tell them you have a suprise, put a blind fold, rise the elevator to get to the deck, walk near the see through glass. Now... while still blindfolded, tell them to lay down onto the glass with the face pointing towards the glass, and then take the blind fold off.

Walllaahhhh. Acceptance is the first step to recovery.

This should cure any fear of heights real quick as your looking 1,100 ft down onto the street. I call it the 6-step program to Acrophobia. The accelerated program that is. Facing your fears brought to you by 30 Hudson.

As a souvenir, you can have someone on street level take a photo using a high zoom camera pointed at the glass that's exposed to the street. Can give that as they return to the base of the tower as a gift.

Exhibit A:

Has anyone ever been to the top of the CN Tower in Toronto? They have glass floors like this in that tower and it creates quite the thrill effect. People who have a fear of heights like me will def avoid that area if visited. It's my understanding that the CN tower had to cover a significant portion of the floor because people refused to step on it at all. So now only one section is clear while the rest of the glass floor is covered in carpet.

Fun fact: The vertical drop from the glass floor of this observation deck will actually be higher than the vertical drop of the skywalk at the Grand Canyon which is between 500 ft and 800 ft.

Chris's wild "looking-down/looking-up" Acrophobia scenario . .
(in 12-20-17 post above) . . just might make for a great rom-com segment . .
perhaps in film titled "Insomnia in Bumfuk" . .

this is one juggernaut of icy-cold bitch . .
cant wait for observation ledge to take shape . .

^^^^

It definitely is a juggernaut. I can't help but think if this somehow plopped out of the ground about 5000 ft, and twisted mid-air where the observation deck is facing towards the ground that it would look like a year 2500 space ship. Imagine the base with giant engines at the end. A spacial-orientation problem I present as you imagine it parallel to the ground suspended in air horizontally.

Her younger brother, 10 Hudson, looks like a modern obelisk.

The whole Hudson Yards complex has a very futuristic and otherworldly feel to it.

I think if you look at Ingel's Spiral, which is slated to rise next to the yards, reminds me of "life after humans". A sort of relic, with overgrown vegetation.

NOT to forget about the Vessel. The vessel itself is probally that UFO the Pentagon was talking about as of recent. I mean, just look at it!

If somebody with photoshop skills can retain the tower, but remove everything else, add trees and overgrown flora everywhere, you'd see what I mean.

with response from me.

Life After People was a fascinating narrative, even if the attempted premise essentially begged the question:

"Everyone in the world just simply hopped the twig."

How?

Massive alien abduction?

Übervirus that targets only people?

Simultaneous spontaneous combustion?

Just Frøkking Because?!?!? (Hence the invocation of the rhetorical device mentioned above)

The series missed the element needed to create a suspension of disbelief on my part.

On topic: We must be getting to that magical ob deck installation time by now.

As someone who has a moderate fear of heights, I assure you there is nothing attractive about people crapping their britches. Just sayin.

The design is very striking resemblance of 4 WTC and 1 WTC combined, or is it just my perception?
