I LOVE Austin's food truck scene!

If I am not mistaken, several have spawned into nationally (and internationally) touted brick-and-mortar restaurants, correct?

Yeah quite a few, chilantro, east side king, and thaikun I think? I am sure many more, but I cant think of them right now.

I was in Portland last year. I really didn't see that many food trucks. So I'm surprised by the numbers. Also, the food truck lot/pod on the edge of downtown (the one that I was told to check out and was apparently well known) was not all that. It reminded of carnival food.

So all-in-all, quality over quantity, I'm confident that we've got them beat.

Verts had Smart Car food trucks, but I think they were at the same time they opened their first restaurant on Guadalupe.

Torchy's, which still has its trailer park location, has dozens of Texas locations, and is expanding into other states.
