New Holt High School will begin construction in June. School will be able to hold more than 500 students and and cover 113k square feet.

Construction on Jack Warner Parkway between Greensboro and Marr's Spring Road is complete. Things that were improved included drainage problems, the city’s sanitary sewer, updated sidewalks, and medians.

Saw that, and I'm amazed. What a great project for Tuscaloosa and its infrastructure. Finally we'll have a great gateway as visitors enter Tuscaloosa and a better all around transportation corridor.

Other news, T-Town Market is now open downtown. A new gourmet doughnut shop is opening downtown also.

Still nothing on World of Beer. Was supposed to open early '17, but I haven't seen any work being done. Just the same old sign saying "W.O.B Coming Soon!".

New census reports that Tuscaloosa added a little over 1200, which means Tuscaloosa has grown 10.2% since 2010! Northport also added a little over 300, which puts them at the 25k mark.

Mayor Walt Maddox has presented and released a plan, called "Next Four Years", highlighting development, infrastructure, and focus areas in the next four years. In there are renderings of an Amtrack station, the project for I-20/59, a new emergency 9-11 center, plans for west side, and much more.

*Edit- just saw some renderings of a possible sports complex :o

Also, note that Tuscaloosa is just (likely) a year away from becoming the 5th city in the state to have over 100,000 people!

As for the McFarland/20-59 interchange, it's about time they did something to improve traffic there... I like the look of the new bridge. It'll be an excellent entrance to the city.

Now if they'll just revamp all McFarland all the way to University, that'll be REALLY great for the city. This is a great start, though.

It'd be nice to see more real jobs come to downtown, to attract young professionals. I love the progress downtown has made, but it needs to make that next step now to officially push Tuscaloosa as a more desirable place to work/live.

Well, the old YMCA has officially been torn down.

One of the old apartments around the university have officially been torn down to make way for the new condo.

Other than that, not much development.

If it's another Publix, I'm going to flip sh**. Why the hell this city refuses to get a Trader Joes is beyond me. Even Krogers would be great.

No reason to get another Publix, when there's two within 5 miles.

Also pretty upset the city still hasn't had any plans for better parking down by the river front. If the grocer is approved, that takes away that huge lot that was used for Amphitheater parking.
