On the Alexandra (also known as the Interprovincial) Bridge, the oldest bridge between Ottawa and Gatineau, the eastern (Gatineau-bound) lane has no asphalt. You're driving on the steel grid (grillage). It scares my kids.
The Ottawa-bound lane on the west side is on asphalt, and on the outer edge of that is another (wooden) section for bikes and pedestrians.
