Going (back) to black and white is a trend through out north america.

Edmonton had green ones, but they have all been converted to back to red now... Not sure why.

Seems most police forces east of Quebec are converting to white and black, interesting.

Smaller work force, lower wages. Less manufacturing jobs. Another brainwashed Canadian who doesn't realize the importance of the middle class. Why pay Mexicans a dollar an hour when you can pay the Chinese 50 cents an hour.

Just curious, how much do you think an assembly line worker should be paid?

Motor Trend compared the three new models of police car from Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...r/viewall.html

I haven't seen any Chevrolet Caprice police cars yet. Interestingly they are actually Holden Commodores (like the Pontiac G8 was). Finally GM's offer isn't a large FWD car like the Impala...

Even for police usage? I was under the impression the Caprice would only be available to the police.

Why did Ford stop making Crown Vics? I thought that they would be getting a ton of money with all the Police Force's in North America using them.

They don't meet modern side impact standards because of the body on frame construction, and they were an orphan model that didn't merit the investment.

Blitz did already post the new Windsor Police car graphics, but there are still some of the old graphics on cars around town.

It really is a shame because every time you saw a regular Crown Vic there was a 80 percent chance it would be an undercover cop (also a 20 percent chance of it being a senior citizen ) and an easy signal to stop speeding. With the Chargers these days it's much more difficult to tell.

There is a used car dealership across the street from my apartment that usually is the one that sells police cars after they've been decommissioned. The interior is pretty normal, but the roof still has holes in it from when the light bar and antenna were on it. There is another one that sells old taxis and they still have white and yellow panels on them.

Here is one I found for Cornwall. It's the first Civic I have seen.

source: www.cornwallfreenews.com

In Halifax our secondary cars are often Ford Focus' or Dodge Caliber's

Interesting. We also have Civic's in Quebec City but those are used for police officer (mostly women) assigned to schools "police-école or school police"

And we have Dodge Journey's for organs transportation.

A buddy of mine bought an old Crown Vic from a police auction ("cop motor, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks") and would scare the crap out of people who thought he was a cop following them. He bought one of those red lights that you'd see in buddy cop movies (that they'd put on their roof before starting a chase), but got in trouble for using it a couple times so it's not there anymore.

Never boring to ride with him.

Just for comparisons sake, here's Frances highway patrol car, the 2011 Renault Megane Coupe RS. Top speed 160 mph. 0 - 60 in 5.9 seconds. There are faster cars out there, but these numbers are not bad for a regular duty cop car, and far better looking than NA cop cars (imo). There are 70 of these vehicles in service.

North American police cars, just like virtually all US designed cars are horribly ugly. Ford can make a decently nice car, although most of those are European designs. Also I don't know what graphic designers they're hiring for the liveries but they don't seem to have much in terms of taste, there are a few exceptions but for the most part our police cars are completely hideous compared to those overseas.

Oh, you're one of those people.

Personally I think a black painted Dodge Charger is a much better police car design than some Volvo hatchback.
