Glad to hear they are offering more options, I think its a good move (although let me know when they offer a C63!).

The relatively lack of choice though is why I would much rather have Zipcar service.

Never mind wanting to drive a nicer car, if I am walking to get to a car2go I will take the closer one instead of walking the extra block. Most of my usage is spontaneous, when I need to get somewhere quickly.

The one thing I had heard before was making the bigger cars only rentable by the hour. That would certainly discourage people from using it when the smaller car would work.

So would making the per-minute cost higher. I'm surprised they didn't. I'm certainly willing to pay more for a bigger, more expensive car in the cases where I need one.

I would suspect that after their "trial" is over that's exactly the system they will settle on. The bigger car will cost more.

With the recent pedestrian accident in the Beltline, got me asking about Car2Go insurance. What is covered exactly, and what is the deductible?

Originally the deductable was $1000, but in June they made some changes
- deductable is reduced to $250 with a $1 per trip fee
- deductable is reduced to $0 for any users who take 91 or more trips a year
- (I believe also if you exceed 91 trips you are refunded the $1 fee for each additional trip until the end of the year)

Coverage is $5 million.

That's very good coverage actually.

So a couple of years later, do people still use/like Car2Go? I'm surprised it hasn't spread to Edmonton yet TBH... Especially since I'm a proud-ish Smart owner myself...

Still used but I personally hate the fuckin cars. They need restrictions on overnight parking. Sometimes trying to get parking to work downtown and all the parking is occupied by cars2go that have been there all night.

Are there any other options in Calgary now that Car2go is defunct in North America come February?

Its already too late for Calgary - Car2Go has been gone from Calgary since October. Not really any similar options for self-driving.

And it wasn't just Calgary, the company has pulled out of NA completely now.

They're still in a few places until 2/29/2020. Too much competition they said and they didn't have the infrastructure to support electric vehicles. I can see them folding shop in Europe within a year or two.

I used Car2go at least twice a week. Really sucks for me and the wife. Used take Car2go to go out for dinner and uber/taxi home. If we didn't drink, we'd take car2go home.
