Here are a couple of new pics of the nearly completed Holiday Inn suites project in North Bay. Now I'm looking forward for construction to start on the adjacent 83 unit "Staybridge Inn" Suites Hotel, it will be directly beside the Holiday Inn and will be 5 or 6 storeys tall.

baby minto is almost finished.

Daddy Minto is still rising, and likely has a while to go before it reaches its full hieght.

Wow, Victoria is really booming. Good to see. It's nice to know that there are some office projects going on as well for a bit of balance. Now I'd just like to see a few towers pushing higher downtown. I know you're going to be getting a new tallest downtown, right? Is it one of the Hudson Bay towers? Congrats on all the development.

Yeah thanks it's so cool, There is Cranes every where!!! And the New tallest downtown will be 24 with a 19 and 15 at the Hudson Bay redevelopment. And right beside that is a 15 story office tower.

How ever on Bear Mountain (Langford) CRD Five towers were just approved with a thousand units and the shortest is 25 stories and the tallest is 45 stories. Crazy! Wish they were downtown!

From the Falls Construction Site

Also from the falls site...

Also from the Humboldt Valley...night time

Several Downtown Vancouver construction sites - June 29

All of these photos were taken by me on June 29th, 2007. The light was phenomenal and everything looked fresh from having been drenched in a summer downpour an hour or so earlier.

Two Harbour Green construction progress taken from Harbour Green Park.

Hotel Loden under construction beside The Melville. All that copper is new since the last time I was down that way.

It didn’t take long for Starbucks to show up at the base of the Melville beside the Hotel Loden. Starbucks represents a pretty reliable index of an area’s economic health. If there are plenty of Starbucks then it is likely doing well.

Sapphire and The Melville from W Pender and Bute.

Sapphire and Ritz construction from W Pender.

Ritz and Flatiron construction.

Progress on the Flatiron. It is a much smaller building than I had expected.

Pender Street “construction precinct”. (bonus shot of one of the new electric trolley buses)

Shangri-La Northwest corner.

Shangri-La Northeast corner.

Shangri-La Southeast corner.

Demolition work on 1133 West Georiga (Turning Tower/Vancouver’s Turn/Ritz-Carlton - 59 storeys ~600ft ~185+ metres)

Harbour Green Park and an in-progress Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre Expansion Project (VCCEP)

VCCEPconstruction from Western approach.

VCCEPconstruction from Eastern approach.

VCCEPconstruction taken from Canada Place.

Construction continues on the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel and residences. I figure another month and it should be above ground. It will also mark the last time the at-grade portion of SkyTrain will be visible from the new viaduct streetgrid above it. I still remember when SkyTrain was at grade in the open air for two or three blocks before entering the tunnel.
