I had the pleasure of seeing this in person last week. I must say the cladding does look fantastic in real life. To me it's a welcome change from the "typical blue-green" glass so many other recent buildings have been coated in.

I love it myself, and I've also been saying it's refreshing from all of the blue glass. It's icon worthy, and I'm glad it's bringing fresh life to the heart of Midtown. I just wonder what the response will be with the Chase tower.

I'm really hoping those bankers egos go wild and they go broke on the chase tower. Give NYC a true 21st century icon.

^ Sorry in advance for a post lacking much thoughtfulness, but the detailing on Vandy juxtaposed with the detailing on Chrysler;

Is the cladding supposed to be reminiscent of the Chrysler Building's crown?

Not specifically, but it does have the touch of older buildings in the area...

^ Yeah, more than halfway to the roof (1301 ft) and a bit less than halfway to the spire (1401 ft). Because the design tapers and uses less material as it rises, it will fly up from now on. I believe something like 60+% of the steel is already built.

Very nice! Thanks for the updates... 1 Vandy seems to be coming along faster than I thought!

Also, there are only 58 actual floors. I forget where they projected to be at the end of the year, but they've been ahead of schedule the whole time.
