Is it due to the fermented rice? Not familiar with miso but it looks like a paste.. not something that needs to be kept cold?

They say the health department is more strict for the Olympics

Aw, come on. Mickey D's and Coke are the Olympics' biggest sponsors, year in year out.

More like the Olympic "health department" wants to enforce a sponsor monopoly on the junk food supply.

Ha, ha... I'll be enjoying miso in its home environment come February, watching NHK and cheering on Canada.
