Yes. And the parking lots turned to 200m towers on both sides as well!

That wide centre park they built on Autoroute Bonaventure? doesn't work for me at all. Do people actually hang out on that green patch. It doesn't look inviting and is wasted space.

I can say it hasn't attracted so many people at all. Not in the summer, especially not in the winter.

Oddly enough, I know personally one of the designers behind it and his defense is that we have to wait until the neighbourhood builds around it.

He may be right, we're witnessing a project boom around the park now, so it might just end up being busier in like, 5 years.

At the very worst, I suspect it will be a nice ornament devoid of people. Is it wasted space though?

Still better than the elevated highway that was there before. Give it time for the trees to grow and we’ll see. The whole sector is in transformation. Brand new parks always look a bit spartan at first.

Would have been a great spot for a flatiron tower.

What are those ladder-like structures down the middle of the boulevard?

An improvement for sure but not convinced the replacement is a success. I'll give it some time.

We have a few new public spaces like that with condo towers all around. Perhaps the term 'wasted space' isn't the right one but I'm left feeling that these places will eventually get re-done till they find a design that works. In a dense central city space is at a premium so I'd rather see the few public spaces we have used by people.

Perhaps that's precisely what will be there 20+ years from now.

I'm really enjoying the east side now that it's densifying and covered most of the surface parking. I wish the country had more extensive areas built to this height/scale.

Agree. Once its a little further along (and has a larger resident population) perhaps they can start tackling the pedestrian realm. The street 2 photos up could be reduced to 2 lanes from 4, the sidewalk widened, and a green buffer built between sidewalk and road. It's pretty awful as is.
