Does the tower take a huge step back in terms of impressiveness when the lights come off or is it equally good day and night?
Is there a certain time the WG turns on and off its lights? Or do they stay on overnight?

Its subjective. I believe it looks striking during the day as well.

You can look at the pictures and make a judgement. If you don't like it, fine.

We've actually got several streets like that. It's the old financial district on the east side of downtown. I was surprised by this as well when I moved to LA over a decade ago. This area has seen dramatic investment since the recession and become a really dynamic part of the city. That photo is truly stunning though

I was also amazed at the density of DTLA streets when I visited. They could really have something there with increased development. It has approximate Center City Philadelphia density/canyon vibe. Some streets almost more-so.

This area, named the Historic Core, is often used by TV and movie productions to simulate places like NY, Chi, and Philly all the time. Its prew war street grid was built in the exact same style as those cities. And even now some of the surface lots are being filled in.
The WG has really started getting attention in its own right. People walking the streets stop all the time to look up at it. Even the local news channels that feature live cams showing the skyline are centering on it now.

An addition to the Wilshire Grand?

For the Wilshire Grand, they should eventually build a round helipad that rises up to the 1000 foot level that is angled diagonally off the back part of the Wilshire Grand sail (the other lower side away from the spire). It would bring the superstructure of the building up to 1000 feet and would add character to the building making it look more like one of the classy high-rises that are found in Dubai.

Yeah LA needs more of those $classy$ Dubai scrapes. Lovely dream you have there with an angled helipad.

So when is the grand opening? It's almost June and there's still no official date as to when it will open.

Yep. Just saw this video below yesterday but starting at 1:06 (it was previewed on a show). I'm a long-term L.A. resident and was pretty certain this was shot in NY. Then the ladies passed by the theater.

This is a picture I took of my TV while watching Lucifer on FOX last night, so the quality may not be the best, but you can see the WG in the center. The sail isn't lit up, however you can see the spire and the red light at the top.

Looks like this shot was taken between September 3 and October 10. The last crane can be seen before it was taken down on Oct 15.

Yeah, tons of music videos, commercials, shows, and movie scenes are shot downtown. Every time I walk along 5th St. between Spring and Broadway I'm reminded of the movie Phone Booth.

I'm sure helipads require 360 deg of unobstructed approach in Los Angeles.
Classy is not the first word that comes to mind when I think of Dubai but haste does.
