The choice of developer for Underground Atlanta didn't inspire confidence, but everything I've seen from their architect S9 on this project has been so, so good. Even in this block of the project, where they are clearly using a lot of the existing buildings with only cosmetic alterations, it feels like they understand how they have to position this and what kind of tenants will make it work. Cautiously optimistic about this one.
They've done almost as good as they could with all the difficulties of the site being surrounded on 3 sides by a substation, billboard property (ugh!), and electrical easement.
Agreed. Nice proposal. Wonder how the experience / noise will be on that pool deck overlooking Williams and the Connector though?
The Beltline that goes from the existing Eastside trail all the way to Buckhead will be fully built out by 2020; Design work will start this June and move to construction by a year and a half.
This is really really wonderful. I'm stoked they are doing this and think this has the potential to be a new center of gravity for the whole area. Would be great if the new developments fronting this would activate it with a ton of outdoor restaurant seating and retail spillout. If that happened I'd go here over Crescent street anyday.

That Mason Street to MARTA connection needs some work..

The good news is that Selig is on board with the Arts Walk concept and is incorporating it into the design of their current 1105 West Peachtree project on the west side of Peachtree Walk as well as their future project fronting the east side. They plan to have space for large art installations on the side of their buildings. They also plan a pedestrian only corridor from 1105 West Peachtree running through the middle of the block on Peachtree Walk, continuing to Crescent St along the edge of the future SLS Hotel and Lure. (The SLS developer is also coordinating with Selig on their projects in this area).
Midtown Alliance was also instrumental in getting a small pedestrian pathway from 14th St to 13th St between the new dual branded hotel and the existing Marriot Hotel.
I agree that this will be something special if/when the vision is realized. It also helps when the developers are cooperating and coordinating their projects to help realize the vision.
I'm not a fan of that Midtown station redesign plan (although I'm not sure if it's real or not). It seems to totally ignore Midtown stations status as a bus route hub. There's minimal space for buses to wait, and a tiny bus shelter that isn't even connected to the train station.
This was just updated on Loopnet this month. Remember, this is backed by Metlife and Daniels Corps so they have seep pockets. Additionally Metlife acquired an additional 8 acres in Midtown last year.
plexus r + d is excited to share a sneak peek of the Hotel Cameron, a new 103 room boutique hotel to be located on Atlanta's Westside, within walking distance of the Mercedes Benz Stadium. The Hotel Cameron will provide an authentic local experience for guests, reflecting the diverse and evolving character of the surrounding neighborhood. This sense of place and belonging is reinforced through the incorporation of several existing structures, including an elevated railroad path and parts of a concrete warehouse. Interior public spaces are woven together with exterior gardens and terraces, further cementing therelationship between the Hotel Cameron and the surrounding urban fabric. The preservation of existing structures and integration of interior and exterior spaces reveal an emphasis on sustainability that is encoded in the planning and building design, as well as the operation of the hotel.
In addition to the 103 guest rooms, amenities include a dramatic multi-level lobby with an intimate restaurant, lounge and patio. The mezzanine level provides access to a fitness room, conference space and a film screening theatre that will draw in the energy of the burgeoning film industry in Atlanta. The building is capped by a rooftop evening spot with panoramic views of the city and exterior terraces revealing the dramatic skyline of Atlanta.
