Boise State University Developments

With a couple of new projects underway at bsu, I thought I'd make a thread. Mostly because I'm a business major who will be going home for the summer, so I want to see updates on the construction throughout the summer

Also, I happened to cross this interesting piece of information. Apparently BSU wants to build a vivarium... To be honest, I didn't even know what that meant. So after googling it I found out that it's basically a structure that houses animals for observation.

http://www.recovery.gov/Transparency...ardType=Grants

The close to 4 million dollar grant should help nicely with this project.

I'll make the rounds on BSU's website so we can consolidate all of the pertinent information on the business building, new track facility, new dorms, the campus master plan, and the other projects that are either starting or being wrapped up.

Nice idea andyroo. Boise State is growing quickly and has changed so much, just in the past 3 years.

The new dorm project is dead. You can see the article on it's thread. STILL, can't wait to see the COBE building built. That is going to be a great entry way to BSU and Downtown.

Another thing I heard about the BSU Dorms was that BSU in part took it off the table to resolve funding issues. I don't think it's dead so much as delayed (at least I hope that's the case).

I hope its just delayed and not completely dead. BSU has almost no on-campus housing. They rely on people commuting there from the downtown area and all over the valley. For a university that is growing so quickly, I think on-campus housing SHOULD be a priority.

This links to the options currently available for on campus housing.
http://housing.boisestate.edu/reshallfacilities.shtml

The newer facilites recently built along University Ave and near Fake Meat & Nasty Taco Arena....err Taco Bell Arena made an improvement but more on campus housing is needed for sure.

BSU really needs a new sponsor for the Pavillion.

Totally agree about the sponsor thing. The least they could do is actually provide some cheap hard/soft shell tacos... Free tacos or $1 tacos if the broncos score X amount of threes/points, or something like that. The name alone is embarrassing, the idea that you can't find any tacos inside just adds to the embarrassment.

It is definitely not dead. In fact it will still be finished in the same amount of time. The start date is delayed one month as of now. I know things and this is one Project that is going to happen one way or another. There has already been millions invested in this. ACC is not about to walk away without seeing a return on their investment. Foundation work will most likely start on June 28th.

I start next fall, but the plan of attending Boise State is going full speed ahead, so I went with the name change.

I'll get the dorms up in a little bit.

Wow awesome for BSU. They're running out of room to spread out, so they'll continue to build UP! Soon they'll have their own little skyline

Still more to come. Just haven't had the time to dig through and compile the information out there.

heavy machinery and fencing are now at the university inn site. hopefully this means demolition will begin soon to make way for the business building.

Yeah the sooner the better. I think they held off demo until classes were out so they wouldn't disrupt that parking lot. Now that school is done they can start!

You are not the only one frustrated by the outcome. So, I wonder if the plan was for a much larger complex of dorms which is now going to be a smaller complex, if there will be open space on those lots left after this new construction to add more in the future? I know people at BSU who said the the University is frustrated but their hands are tied because of the State Board of Ed. The campus at BSU is expanding and growing quickly and new buildings seem to always be going up, so they are going to need more student housing regardless.
