Here's some updates on some previous posts:

These three buildings at 308-316 Main Street in Downtown will be rehabbed into 5 condos and 2 storefronts. Project cost is $9 million.

The buildings from the corner building down to the 6 story building will be all rehabbed into 30 residential units and 6 storefronts. They're in Walnut Hills.

The old Dennison Hotel in downtown Cincy will be rehabbed into 63 apartments. Project cost is $9.6 million.

Banks next phase set for winter start
Quote:
Developers at the Banks hope to break ground in early 2013 on the next major phase of construction work at the $600 million development.

Following the success of the $91 million Phase 1, newly revealed designs for the riverfront development call for an additional 300 apartment units, more than 60,000 square feet of street-level retail and more than 400 parking spaces at the block southeast of Race and Second streets, said Libby Korosec, spokeswoman for the Banks development team of Atlanta-based Carter-Dawson Co. The structure is one building, but appears to be two, sitting on a three-story foundation.

Wow, those are three great projects. The Walnut Hills building is beautiful and I would be suprised if it wasn't a huge success. Who wouldn't wanna live in that building and rentals are hot now.

And the Dennison building is very sharp too. That's a great building.

These type of rehabs are so important for our sized cities to help re-grow vibrancy. Go Cincy!

Yeah, they are really great projects.

I like how the focus of development in Cincy right now seems to be more on renovating our older buildings as opposed to building new. It's Cincy's older architecture that sets us apart in my opinion, so I'm glad they're serious about preserving it. At the same time, we still have great new proposals to keep things interesting.

nati, I'm really digging Banks II. As far as you know, is an office tower still being discussed as part of it ?

As far as I know the office tower is still part of the plan. It could take a while to be built though, since they are still looking for a tennant for the tower in phase 1.

But I agree with you. The phase 2 buildings look much better than what was originally planned (and built in phase 1).

Oakley Station poised for construction
Quote:
Oakley Station looks like nothing but bare land now, but the developer says that’s major progress, and within the next year it will begin serving both movie buffs and apartment-seekers.

“We’re relieved to finally have it moving,” said Steve Dragon, vice president of Vandercar Holdings. “Site prep has been a long road.”

Construction starts this month on a 14-screen movie theater and 302-unit apartment complex at the $120 million Oakley Station, one of the city’s largest, new mixed-used developments.

Quote:
A new study, prepared by Alta Planning + Design, determined how and where a bicycle sharing system could be implemented in Cincinnati in a way that will compliment its expanding Bicycle Transportation Program.

The recently released report was called for by city leaders in May 2012, and identifies a 35-station, 350-bike system that would be built in two phases in Downtown, Over-the-Rhine, Pendleton, Clifton Heights, Corryville, Clifton, Avondale and the West End.

$200K OK'd for Eastern Corridor project
Quote:
The Ohio Department of Transportation has awarded $200,000 to be used for the Downtown portion of the Eastern Corridor transit rail project, Hamilton County commissioner Todd Portune said.

Project leaders plan to use the funding to help secure right-of-way access for the proposed rail line between The Banks transit center and the Montgomery Inn Boathouse. That is the first phase of the proposed $411 million, 17-mile rail line between Downtown and Milford. The first phase is estimated to cost between $15 million and $25 million.

Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza getting $10M upgrade
Quote:
The Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza joined a growing list of downtown hotels in line for face lifts. A $10 million renovation began about a month ago and is slated for completion by next year.

“The market requires it,” said Alex Warm, co-owner of Belvedere Corp., which acquired the hotel along with the rest of the Carew Tower complex in 1990. “The Hyatt is doing it. The Westin just did it. It’s time. The stuff we have is in need of freshening.”

$25M 'Hotel Covington' bringing jobs to N.Ky.
Quote:
COVINGTON, Ky. - A $25 million luxury boutique hotel is coming to Covington -- and it's being built inside what's currently city hall.

The Salyers Group , a Covington commercial real estate company, is working with the Milwaukee-based Aparium Hotel Group , to turn the city hall building, located at 638 Madison Avenue, into The Hotel Covington.

Plans call on keeping the historic shell of the building, which originally housed a fancy department store that catered to the well-to-do of the time. Now, the 102-year-old building will house a specialty hotel that could potentially boost much of downtown Covington.

$450,000 donation from Duke Energy to advance construction at Smale Riverfront Park
Quote:
Thanks to a $450,000 donation from Duke Energy, the Cincinnati Park Board will be able to move forward more quickly with the development of what was previously called the Main Street Garden at the Smale Riverfront Park.

The area is located immediately south of Great American Ball Park, and is now called the Duke Energy Garden. The narrow piece of park space is expected to be completed by spring 2013, and will connect the Smale Riverfront Park with additional riverfront parkland to the east (Sawyer Point, Bicentennial Commons, Theordore M. Berry International Friendship Park).
....................
According to park officials, the Duke Energy Garden will include 87 trees, thousands of smaller plantings, walking paths, a 150-foot granite seat wall, and 12 “family-sized” porch swings.
