I mean Vranich is known to do work without permits and ask for forgiveness later so..

I wonder when we will see a development application for this one.

They have started to demolish the buildings on this site. In the past, Vranich has not taken long from demolition to start of construction.

There is not an application here yet, so even if demolition starts soon he won't be starting construction that soon.

It would have been great to see a proposal come for this entire block, and by anyone other than Vrancor, but while it's more LRT news than anything else, I thought I'd note that the Pizza Pizza and car wash behind it are not dirt piles.

Drove by yesterday and the buildings are gone, and it looked like they're just clearing up rubble now.

The Hakim optical building at the corner of Sherman and king is also a pile of rubble now and so is another small building between these two locations ... it's really great to see things happening in this part of town... I hope they don't sit empty lots for too long though

That whole stretch of King from a couple of blocks east of Sherman to Wellington can use a lot of love. Hopefully with spillover onto Wilson and Cannon.

It has the potential to be one of the most transformed sections of the LRT corridor.

This area and many areas along LRT will look scorched earth for quite awhile.

I prefer the scorched earth look over the bordered up windows and decaying crack houses that were looming over king street for decades .

Talking to a rep from Vrancor, They are looking to widen the building and build up to 12 floors to make more units.

Not sure what the deal is with this entirely suburban vibe. The brick pattern kind of reminds me of the Acorn St building currently under construction around the corner from this site.

That's some odd composite rendering using a part of the new retirement residence on Centennial in Stoney Creek, and photoshopping it to have an extra floor and be a smaller building... very odd.

My guess is a preliminary rendering used in a pre-consultation meeting for the city, before the more formal documents are prepared.

It's likely intended to show general architectural intent only, with specific designs to be refined later.

It's a guess though, Darko likes to do things his own, rather interesting way..

I believe he mentioned wanting to go taller, in that article about his $millions.

Maybe he figures showing something squat and ugly will help his aspirations of grandeur.
