I'm less worried about the top floor and back part...it looks to be back-painted glass. Hopefully they just go with clear or silver...not crappy beige.
Glad to hear it's brick and pre-fab on the tower...no stucco.

The small windows just kill me tho.

Street-front looks great however. I'll certainly take it. Nice piece of infill.

Considering how this proposal's history has been, it would be amazing to see something on this site.

this building almost feels like a throwback to the old bank building on the corner of king and james, where the big glassy blue building is now..

in all honesty though, john st. isn't that BAD - I mean going towards the escarpment those buildings are pretty well preserved.

A Starbucks or a nice coffee shop would do well on that corner.

The first post in this thread is by Steeltown, on Dec 10, 2008. I wonder how long the gas station that was there has been closed.

Only a few years before that, I think. So probably coming up on 20 years. I moved to Hamilton in 2001 and I remember at least the structure still existing there for a few years after that. Not sure when it actually closed down though.

The Shell at Main and John closed in 2004

The oxfordhamilton.ca website has been taken down, and the development has a new name. It is now Pensio on Main Condos

Pensio? Seriously?

Someone was not pensive about that choice.

Is Sideshow Harry still a proponent? Or did his co-investors get pensive and change direction?

Speaking of developments that went nowhere.

Is there any news on who owns this, and what's going on with it?
