If you continually put your Goalie in a situation where he has to be phenomenal to even survive, you're going to have a bad time.
Gardiner looks like he has, at best, grown marginally better defensively since the last loss in 2013. What a joke that he's probably going to get signed to $5 million+

The loss isn’t on Anderson, but he played to the level of the rest of the team. He’ll probably stick around, but the Leafs would be lucky to shed his contract for a cheaper replacement.
It’s hard to let a guy like Gardiner go when you’re already so weak on D, but the Leafs should seriously think of packaging him for an upgrade.
On the bright side, I thought Marner and Rielly had strong performances. The rest of our core not so much.
