The Canada forum has out-Canada'd itself.

It's punching way above it's weight.

No I think it is you who has completely missed the point of this thread.

Until you can take this place, and yourself, less seriously I suggest you avoid this thread entirely.

As for the rest of the thread, as long as it stays light and not personal, continue to have some fun. We could all use a laugh and a reality check here no doubt, but of course due to the nature of the thread it will be watched closely and shut down if it gets out of hand.

The point of this thread appears to be a targeted attack against the "punching above its weight" meme, which is 90% used to describe one city and probably 99% used by one specific poster. You can call that "light and not personal" all you want, but it doesn't change where it's coming from.

And if you think I take this place seriously, then I guess humour definitely is lost on some.

I do give a wry chuckle to the fact that criticizing positivity is lauded here, while criticizing negativity brings moderator attention. Typical for most of this country as represented by SSP.

Me too. I'm so tired of the attacks I get on this forum. Every time I say anything positive I just get shot down. You haters know who you are.

We should be building each other up, not tearing each other down. Now I know what the Nazis felt like during the French Revolution.

The Nazis clearly punched above their weight when it came to the French.

it's so typical of people on this forum to use euro-centric historical examples. like "ooh la la! look at me! i'm talking about napoleon! it's the day of romarin in the month of messidor!"

when i read all this foo-foo stuff i wonder what i'm doing here. canada is about the big open sky and rivers with sticks in them. honestly, when i hear the word "canada," i think of fort providence.

but maybe that's just too much futuristic optimism for your crumbly old lead pipe-poisoned marie antoinette cake-minds.

You just don't understand the cultural disconnect in certain parts of this country. You COULDN'T, because you don't speak as we do. You'll never really appreciate living in Canada until you do. You're more like a tourist, at best.

And you're being ahistorical. It was Rome that had so much trouble with lead pipes. Your narrative is all confused, but I'd expect no less from someone who is clearly monolingual based on your writing. I'm amazed you can tie your shoes.

I think I finally understand, you are talking about happiness and optimism then you follow up by being angry and mr. poopy pants. You were going for irony. Glad I figured that out. This thread is great! I've posted more times in here in the past couple days, then I have on this forum in the last 6 months.

No you weren't. And I'll bet you didn't know this one:

Question: How did the hipster burn his tongue?
Answer: He drank coffee before it was cool.

You probably didn't know this one, either:

Question: How many hipsters does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer: It's a really obscure number, you've probably never heard of it.

Go ahead, try and pretend you've heard these ones before.

The first one was kind of dumb but the second one made me laugh.

The problem for them was on the other side, 'cause even though the Soviets actually punched below their weight, they were so fat that the punch was actually still powerful enough to be a winning blow...

Calgary has grown up and firmly joined the big 4; leaving in its wake the runt cities of Ottawa and Edmonton. It is well on track to pass Vancouver....maybe even Montreal! The growth is insane! Unreal! Pretty soon, we may be talking about the 'Big two' (Toronto and Calgary). It isn't personal, that's just the way things are. Sorry if...
