found a "before" pic...

That's too overpriced, at least, one bedroom would be contains more than 3 people, too servevely overcrowded. I think that people (low income-middle income) would apply Section 8 Projects though.

Just a few of the projects on Hollywood Blvd under construction and nearing completion:

The Hillview

The Broadway

The Lofts

Not sure of the name of this one but it's on the 6800 blk of Hollywood; they're putting in new windows and fixing the interior probably for more residential.

The Madrone:

Will be in this parking lot on La Brea just south out Hollywood Blvd. if the NIBY's quit stalling the project

Great to see the Hillview -- especially before and after! My god, what a dump it was before. And I especially like that you can see the ugly-as-sin streetlamps in the "before" pic have been replaced with the newer replica model.

Anybody know how the Sunset and Vine development is doing? I was so disappointed to see that Scwab's restaurant has closed its doors. I really enjoyed that place and can't figure out why it failed. The Japanese restaurant and the Borders that it sat between seem pretty busy.

^ I heard (via Curbed LA) that it wasn't being closed, only being renovated.

You had me worried there. So much so that I had to do a fast search of google to find out more about the place, & came across what Ralossi must be referring to.

They really need to develop the surface parking lot across the street from Sunset and Vine by WaMu into something even larger. That parking lot really kills the vibe in that area. What could have been two sides of stimulating retail and foot-traffic, is nothing more than a dark and empty void.

Things will be a bit better when Sunset + Vine Tower is finished... if it ever stops catching fire, that is. I swear, that tower is jinxed.

I think 50% of the readership/writership (is that a word?) of Curbed is SSP forumers, lol.

Nothing better than to see a bldg like the Hillview, formerly a dive, reactivated & made an asset to the hood again. And nothing will be better than to see another deadzone parking lot in the city replaced with something nicer. But I guess the NIMBYites in the hood feel differently.

Time to bring out the dancing fruits and veggies:

Hope the new Whole Foods market doesn't put the kabosh on the very successful Hollywood Farmer's Market located down the street.....

OMG! Amazing! That will really be the much needed development to complete that area. That's the Medallion of Hollywood, IOW.

Thanks for the find LAMG! (AGAIN!)

I love that all these Hollywood projects are being built with big signage. Very fitting for the area. And what's the deal so far with the Peterson building?

There is actually talk of moving the farmers market to a new location.

Oh cool, A Supermarket. Next thing on Hollywood's plate is to fill up the parking lot's with more markets or how about some playgrounds and parks.

As for closing down the Farmer's market, I doubt it. In some cases a farmer's market would actually provide a compliment to Whole Foods and besides there are plenty of available parking lots in the Hollywood area.

^ Exactly, some rich philanthropist should buy the remaining surface lot south of this proposed site and make it into a pocket park. According to the map shown there, there is already a 5-story parking structure by the House of Blues tower.

This aerial view of the location shows that Hollywood, like DT, has been bogged down by way too many parking lots for way too long. Time for change in the hood is long overdue, which means I'm gonna explode if projs like these aren't underway ASAP.

(I've read that some luggage store & at least one other business that doesn't want to move out is holding up the CRA's acquisition of land for the Hollywood/Vine & W Hotel proj one block north of this one.)
