Good to see positive movement in Memphis, especially since it tends to get overlooked a lot.

The Commercial Appeal

Once touted as the largest greenfield development site in urban America, Pidgeon lies between Interstate 55 and the Mississippi River off Mallory Road. Memphis-Shelby County Port Commission officials told city and county mayors this week that pending projects could vastly reduce available space.

The Crescent Center, left, and the Triad Centre, both owned by Highwoods Properties Inc., form one of the hottest areas in Memphis commercial real estate along the Poplar corridor.

This photo is awesome. I love the spatial relationship of everything...

I just keep tabs on Memphis Daily News, Biz Journals, Commercial Appeal, downtownmemphis.com (CCC) & the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce. Also, I'd be very interested to see a Little Rock thread.

Construction of a new $5 million solar power system in Jackson, Tenn., is nearing completion. The one megawatt solar power system with a 47-kilowatt solar array is located at 96 American Drive in Madison Industrial Park in Jackson. Businesses weigh bike plan for Madison Avenue in Midtown Memphis
Lone project proposal would eliminate 2 traffic lanes
The Commercial Appeal

"The lone plan on the table would restrict vehicle through-traffic from the current four lanes to two lanes. The proposal would use the freed-up width to: Establish a center turn lane; Provide on-street parking next to both curbs; Create two bike lanes, one for each direction. Each bike lane is between the parked cars and traffic lanes; And carve out buffers, or "door zones," between the parked cars and bike lanes so cyclists don't slam into opening doors. The bike project -- whatever it becomes -- will stretch from Cooper to Cleveland, nearly 1.5 miles."

Planning for third Mississippi River bridge in Memphis area under way
Memphis Business Journal

"The Tennessee Department of Transportation has started a study which could eventually lead to a third bridge across the Mississippi River in the Memphis area. The organization has started initial planning and environmental studies for the Southern Gateway project, which will study a possible future connection across the Mississippi River in the Memphis area. The project’s purpose is to improve cross-river travel for both people and freight and to improve transportation connections through Memphis to the tri-state region and the nation. The project now has a website, www.southerngatewayproject.com, for online public meetings, as well as a description of project goals and a timeline."
