There was an interesting render on CBC here and now of a proposal to replace the Wedgwood park recreation center. It looked almost like the Johnson geo center, but more modern and better! It will be twice as tall as what's there now and cost about 32 million

Here's the render for the new Wedgewood Recreation Facility. I apologize for the horrendous quality. I would have been able to get a better screenshot if CBC would play on my iPad. Anyway, here it is! If you want to check out a little more "HD" render you can always go to CBC.ca/nl and watch the news! I think it's on at around the 50 minute mark?

I love this, so modern! It looks great! I guess for 32 million it better be great xD

Now, compare it to what is there now:

I really hope this goes ahead!

Haha, I beat you to it! But your images are much better than mine! Does it not look great??

I also compared it to the tin can from the 60's that's there now. I'm not trying to bash the wedgewood center, it's still functional but they need more space (bigger gym/pool, up to date locker rooms, a place so the staff aren't working in a trailer, ect.) And frankly, the building current building is very unattractive

I think it looks great, about as state of the art as anything I've seen for a recreation centre.

Hey Signal, I love your thread in the Canada section about how SSP has changed views about other Canadian cities. I was super stoked to reply to it, until I noticed it only took about 5 posts to degrade down in to the typical Toronto vs. the world and other hate posts. Now I won't even touch the thread

I just heard on a CBC interveiw that the timeline for the municipal plan is the public will have their last say in January and it should be released in March ... this should be a 20 year plan hahahahah because it took like 5 years to develop

There better be some big changes or big plans in it .. better not be status quo due to how much input and time its taken

From the City:

Traffic Advisory: Water Street Lane Closure October 8 - 31. Renovations on the TD Building require the use of a crane and will result in the closure of the west bound lane only on Water Street between Prescott Street and Clift's Baird's Cove. West bound Water Street traffic will have to use Harbour Drive in that area. East bound Water Street traffic not impacted.

Read it! Great read, you guys really nailed all the points I would have! Nice pictures this morning too.

Did you happen notice any more paneling done on the TD building while you were downtown today? Or is work kind of stalled until they put the crane in on Monday

Either way, we should really start to see the reclad take shape over the next week and finally be able to form an opinion on it. I'm just looking forward to seeing this done!
