Raleigh: Enjoying the first warm day of the year

Are we finally out of winter's cold grip? Today was almost 70f(21c) so I decided to get out and shoot.

Skyline from Chavis Park. Yes, that is an indoor carousal.

Red Hat moved their headquarters downtown last year, and Citrix headquarters will open downtown this summer. There is talk of Lenovo moving downtown too.

Two Hanover Square, 2nd tallest.

PNC plaza; the tallest building between Charlotte and Philly. Take that, Winston-Salem, Richmond, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, DC area, and Baltimore!

Renovations are starting on this building that will include a new facade because this one looks pretty dated.

I wish this one could get a new facade too.

24-floor Skyhouse Raleigh under construction:

I bet these guys are glad the freezing rain from two days ago is gone:

This is a Triangle Transit bus. Capital Area Transit is Raleigh's bus service, and Triangle Transit is the intercity service between Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, RDU and RTP. Cary, Chapel Hill, and Durham all have their own local bus service as well.

Wells Fargo Capital Center, 3rd tallest.

Rooftop bar.

Warehouse converted to condos.

Another rooftop bar/restaurant.

There is an office tower planned for the lot to the left of Skyhouse here:

The city now has 107 miles of paved greenway, with more planned to open next year. The Neuse river greenway is 33 miles long.

Very nice set. It looked like a very beautiful day. It is fun watching cities like Raleigh as their skylines grow.

Thanks for all these crisp and beautiful pics from Raleigh, initiald!

I like all these spring-like shots. I see there was real enthusiasm for enjoying a warm spring-like day there, something completely normal after the continuous artic blasts you´re beating this long Winter for you.

I like the streets of Raleigh and the good atmosphere there. Love Raleigh´s skyscrapers too.

Enjoy this wonderful weather while it lasts, initiald.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

Yep... first warm day, and first of a great many. As I understand it, summer temps in Raleigh range from "comfy" (approximately 3 days per year) to "ungodly" (approximately four months per year). Would that be accurate?

Triangle due diligence continues...

Very beautiful! Raleigh really has developed nicely over the past decade!

Baltimore feels awful about not having the tallest between Charlotte and Philly!

I've heard that Baltimore gets together with Richmond and Norfolk in shady bars most weekend nights to bitch about it. Everyone's getting tired of it, if you want to know the truth.

Oh, and tell Baltimore to start tipping better, or else Betty the waitress is going to add something special to the next round of PBR.

So...there is some density in downtown Raleigh after all. People that aren't familiar with Raleigh definitely need to see your photos - they are flattering yet real. Great job!

Some great photos, looked like a nice day, I always enjoyed Raleigh when I would visit there years ago. I always forget how small the downtown is, which is why I am shocked that they have such a tall newest tall building there, even taller than what was built in Virginia Beach, though compared to Virginia Beach, Raleigh has a huge downtown.
